yup, these stock tires stink!! Can't believe Mazda put these on it. Read the reviews on the tires and what others said of them in snow and wet weather and I am totally afraid of driving it on stock tires in the snow. Especially if we get hit like last year. I'm ordering Mastercraft (Cooper...

Yeah, I wondered about that. Manuals are supposed to get better mpg I thought, but when I throw it in M mode it's usually when I want to fly around a bit more so I think you are right in both cases. I still have to figure out the best way to use it for cornering also.
