the price sounded too good to be true, so out of curiousity, i sent the seller a message indicating i was interested, if the price was a typo or if there was anything wrong with the car. this is the reply i got today:

"The car I'm selling is 100% working and good looking,no scratches or any kind of damage. The car is in the US. I have the clear title in hand. I'm a serious seller and a fair trader and I prefer to deal only with a serious buyer. I am not trying to close a prepaid transaction with you, i realise that this is not acceptable. Anyway, I have to let you know that I want a fast deal because I need the money asap and that is also the reason why I am selling it at a lower price, so if you are really interested in buying it, please reply .I am not in the city, so the transaction has to be made from distance. I have a contract abroad with my job and I don't know exactly when I'm comming back in the US.I am in Madrid, Spain right now, but I will pay the shipping fees. All documents will be provided along with the car.The transaction will be made through a third party company for a safe trade."

the price makes it tempting, but even if he was looking for 'money asap', i'm thinking there's no way he'd list it for that little if everything was above board. plus the 'currently out of country' and 'third party transaction' all sound a little fishy to me... yes/no?

I'd never trust anything like that. Those are all the warning signs.

"Out of the country"
"Third party"

etc etc.

scam for sure, i had something like that happen to me about a R33 Skyline from Australia. guy wanted 2200 for it, and said hed split the shipping freight for the boat, but dont send the money to him, to his second business, something like that

100% scam.. He didn't even supply a VIN.

Say you want to get your attorney involved because of the 3rd party transaction, and watch him run away.

Oh, yeah. Scam-tastic. Ask him where the car is. When he tells you, tell him you just happen to have family in that area, and you want to send uncle Phil the mechanic to take a look at it before he ships it out.

Here's a thread about a similar encounter I had with a Miata as the scam-bait, and one about an STi.

3500$ and NSX says Scam right there. A totaled engineless NSX would sell much higher

lol want the most fail safe advice to avoid being scammed? if you even have to ask yourself (or others) if it's a scam then it probably is. done

trust me, i won't be taken in by this idiot. i was pretty sure even before emailing him that there was something fishy with the ad, and his reply just confirmed it. i hate all the scams these days, too bad more can't be done to stop the scammers in their tracks...

haha, this stuff is small time; trust me. look up information on "suntasia marketing" aka 700 employee - multi business name - large facility encorporating scam

oh ya, they got shut down this week (in case you didn't find the information about it on the web) and extemely minor civil penalties will be enforced on them. In a few years they will pop up some where else doing the exact same thing. So don't think any one is going to stop these small time internet scammers when much much much larger fish can't even be fried.

Sounds 100% legit! Go for it! If you don't I'm all over it! If you believe that, I have some beach front property for sale here in PA. $100 per acre!
