How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Hell they will fine you for leaving the engine idling I think, I wish UK traffics cops would get to grips with the ridiculously high number of vehicles with one headlight/tail-light out though. I know they are fewer bobbies cutting about, but you would think they would see that one as an easy revenue stream for on the spot fines.

I had a really good look under the bonnet trying to work out how I would be able to contort my hands to replace any blown bulbs. Without dismantling the car I can't see an easy way of replacing any bulb yourself. I know a work colleague who used to have a Peugeot 407 and to replace the headlight bulbs the front bumper had to be taken off so I can't imagine Halfords replacing a bulb in that one!(whistle)

Not that I had to, on my Octavia the headlight assembly can be removed by pulling a lever and unplugging the connections. The bulbs can be replaced at the kitchen table in the house out of the weather and the assembly plugged back into the car. Why all car manufacturers can't do this I don't know.

Cheers

That sounds good, as I have said before there is often some thing on the previous car that you wish was on the new car.

I haven't had to change a bulb in a car for a very long time, in fact I can't remember the last time, possibly when I had the Metro as everything that could go wrong with that car did.

I think Changing a Xenon Bulb would be a workshop job anyway! I often like to tinker, but the manufacturers just want you to pay dealer prices on what were very simple DIY jobs in days past. (uhm)

Hi xtrailman,

Our salesman did say that you can turn off istop permanently if you really don't like it. I think he said press the istop button and hold for 3 seconds.

I love the idea of the smart key, just need to find the time to set it up and test it a few times.

I've already planned an break in plan, for the next 100 mile I'll drive it as smoothly as possible, then gradually increase.

I'm going to go with ALA, they've had a few good reviews from places such as Which, Honest John and Defaqto.

I've already heard my daughter banging the door sills getting in and out of the car, the OEM sill protects only protect half the sill, hence the film that I'll install DIY. Thats a good idea, did you use hammerrite underneath?

I was going to go for the 4wd as I'm used to 4wd on my Audi TT :) but for this car I couldn't really think of many situations where I'd need this ability, well maybe on the one or two days we get 'real' snow ;) How do you find the extra traction?

How's the running in going? Looking at purchasing same model without the LED DRL in Soul Red - and my fathers looking at the 2l petrol sport in Crystal white - we've been quoted 12-14 weeks factory build time if there's not one available at dealers - sounding about right?

What was you running in plan? Never has a diesel before but with fuel costs and longer commute would save me some money so only real choice if I want a larger more practical car the 07 reg Honda Civic type S - so I'm used to 2" ground clearance and very very stiff ride ;)

Regards

Alex

I know its probably old news now but our infotainment systems resumes playback at the point it stopped playing when the car is turned off using bluetooth. Not tested it on USB yet but will next time Im in the car.

Had this recently from change.org. It applies to the Mazda 6, but I would assume the changes will apply to the CX-5?

****I'm happy to report a bit of new information!*****

Recently I spoke with Mazda North American Operations, about the issues listed in the petition. Although I've been politely badgering them for months, I received official verbal and written confirmation that an update is in the works!

Now, the employee was unable to give an exact timeline for the update (not a surprise), but the update is "In the final stages of testing" over at Mazda Motor Corp in Japan, and is coming "soon". Although, again, I was told it could be weeks or months, we now have official confirmation of an upcoming update from a legitimate source!

Also interesting is the small tidbit of information the representative mentioned in passing (and had been rumored about around the forums beforehand): The update may include Hardware AND Software.

Take that information as you will, since it was said in passing, but we now officially have confirmation that an update is coming, and soon!

Forgive the cross-post (already appears in a separate sub-forum) but thought I'd solicit the views of fellow Brits.

I need to put something on the rear bumper in the way of protection. I installed a chrome bumper strip on my old Nissan X-Trail and that did the job fine but with little or no chrome on the CX5 I'm looking for something that is a little less bling.

Mazda UK offers this as a self fit option.

I'm fine with that in terms of appearance but don't know how effective it'll be in dealing with the knocks of daily life and wonder if anyone has had issues fitting it. As a film these things can be fiddly if you get air bubbles etc.

Alternatively there's this as a non-OEM product. Maybe a bit "in-your-face" for me.

Any views/experiences with either product or has anyone experience of another product? I'm not interested in metallic finishes and I want something that will wrap around the lip of the bumper.

I just drop down a piece of carpet, which goes under the plastic tray to secure it, but I use it to protect against fishing equipment, some of which is metal.

I have the mazda official boot floor mat with folding out piece to protect bumper when loading. I also have the clear strip of 3m ventureshield.

both have their benefits. I'd say you'd notice scratches on the cx-5 protector, you can always peel the film off and put another piece on if it gets too bad, but it may not protect against severe mis-use.

Help Yokohama Geolandar G98A 102V Slow Puncture

Help UK chaps and chapesses

One of my tyres has a VERY slow puncture (1psi per day). My CX5 has only done 4,500 miles bought November 2013.Does any one know who actually stocks and can fit new tyres in the UK? I've looked online and googled etc but the tyre specialists that come up either don't stock Yokohama tyres or they are the wrong type with a lower speed rating. We'll be going on holiday to the IOW soon and I need to find a tyre place in the Notts/Derby area this week if possible that stocks and fits them.

Cheers

Daft question, but may as well get it out the way, is there any reason as to why you cannot get the slow puncture fixed?

I've had two similar ones that have taken literally Months to drop a couple of pounds and triggered the pressure monitor, and both slow punctures have been fixed satisfactorily.

Hi Alex

I've thought about that, I was going for the worst case scenario. Is there anyone reputable you think would be able to do the repair? I've not had to go the repair route before.

Cheers

Any of the larger tyre fitting places will do the job, all standard procedure. Some fitters might suck through their teeth and try to say "Well Sir, this tyre looks worn along the edge, or is split/cracked" All they are trying to do is to sell you a new tyre. Pick a local company with a decent tyre fitting bay. Should cost you no more than 18 including Vat.

Jonno21,

I've had about 5 punctures in the last 12 years. 3 were repaired of which 1 was in an 'unrepairable location'. I took the wheel elsewhere and It was satisfactorily repaired.

The other 2 , 1 really was unrepairable across the edge of tyre and sidewall. The last one I just had new tyres. They were due for replacement prior for a holiday abroad so i brought the purchase forward a month.

here's a handy print out to take along with you......

I think I paid a tenner all in the last time I had one done.

enjoy your IOW holiday. House of Chilli on the IOW do a very strong (hot) chilli beer. It's awesomely hot, well worth a punt.

Has anyone come across towing mirrors that will fit on the very large door mirrors on the CX5?

I tried using my current pair which stick to the door mirror on a suction pad but the wide lip around the door mirror meant that it was difficult to place and ultimately of little or no use and I eventually dispensed with it and just made do without.

I use these

One at the top.

I also have some grand milenco but don't like them. Even though there nearly 3 times dearer.
