Soundsystems generally negate any benefit of adding performance to a car because of the extra weight. If you're concerned about power output from the alt. you probably don't want to consider underdrive pulleys.....

Ok then, where is the 0-60 or 1/4 mile times comparing the mp3 to the ES 2.0? Before the ES1.8 was compared as having a slower 0-60 time as noted by this: Mp3=8.2 ES=8.9 (1.8L engine) Anyone have the 0-60 for the 2.0L?

Do you even understand the basis for this discussion? The point is trying to resolve which car is quicker and can only be done with hard data, not personal opinions.

Actually if you notice on this link the 2000 ES that they are testing is only a 1.8L and not the 2.0L model, so I don't think the "argument is over"....yet at least.

I complained a lot to the dealer and then they filled in my holes. I told them they shouldn't have put them in before asking and finally they paid for the fillings.

In general compression on a manufactured turbo engine is below 9. Examples: 90-94 DSM: 7:8:1 WRX: 8:1 The VW is not a good example because it's 9:5:1, but they have 5 valves per cylinder and a very small turbo. :P

If they do "turbo" the car then it's likely to have a different engine interpolation. There's no way that it will come out with a turbo car with engine compression being as high as the current mp3, crazy! Which will result in an upgrade that is not a simple bolt on to our car.

With the mp3's weight advantage I think it would be a close race. I don't know the standing 1/4 mile time for the 3g 4 cyl eclipse though. The eclipse no longer comes in a turbo model as of the year 2000.

If you replace the Cat with a high flow one your car will pass the emission police test still...which is always good.

Of course the ES is faster. It's the same engine with minor tuning differences with a lot less weight. Although the mp3 will have the advantage in a slalom race. Just think of the obvious differences of all the body work that make the mp3 heavier, 10 hp doesn't no account for a 200lb weight...
