Mazdaspeed Protege Projector Headlights

Def test output

They look similiar to a set of projectors that were in a set of Lexus SC200 lights I retrod

Top is stock halogen, below is the "new" projector from the ebay headlights with an HID bulb in em, and bottom is the morimoto Mini H1 bixenon i used for the retro

They may not be worth the effort to retro them

thats dirty anythings better then my stocker right now. I cant see nada so glazed. Thanks for the input.

putting a brighter light behind the hazed lenses won't help either, it'll actually make them even more blinding to oncoming traffic.

If you're gonna retro, i highly suggest a new set of headlights (Can be had off Ebay for $100)

sorry yes i have a better set in the garage ive been waiting to find lenses and put them together

What headlamps are you guys buying to throw the retros in? My stock lights are hazed over and I need to replace them. Gonna go ahead and throw a proper projector setup in the new lamps if I can find any.

has anyone ever thought about putting a projector in the protege sedan fog lights? I'm thinkin' it'd be nice to have something brighter than my driving lights that i could turn on when i'm out in the country since my regular lights don't do a very good job helping me see deer and stuff.

I figure i can hollow out a 2" hole in the back of both fogs, shove a projector in there with a nice ~4000K bulb (or whatever temp gives me the most light) and no-more deer paranoia at night.

If i'm missing any obvious problems with that i'd appreciate knowing eh?

You may be better off finding a large projector foglight housing then cutting up your stock lamps. Or get some large PIAA driving lights with a higher watt output.

Will be posting more/better pictures when I get the halos working.

I am buying a laser blue MSP and this blue around the projector is perfect, can you tell me your process of making this happen? i have never dealt with headlights, i kind of have a slight understanding after reading the whole thread. lol

Just redid the P5's headlights. Car looks 10 years newer with just fresh headlight lenses

Previous was Acura TL's (EPIC projectors) but after years of sun, the outer plastic lens of the headlight plus 2 minor incidents breaking the mounting tabs) meant it was time for new lights

Installed the new Morimoto Mini D2S 3.0 projectors and am very happy with them!!

Old output from both headlights

Comparison shot
New projectors on top vs the old TL's

Can't compare the 2 projectors because the TL with a new headlight lens and fresh bulbs would be brighter than the Mini, but the new Mini's are CAKE to install vs cutting and cutting to get teh TL to fit

Either way, old on bottom, new on top

and new output of both headlights

abnd yeah they're crummy phone pics but you can still tell the hotspot is much more intense on the Mini's (the TL is more even light spread)

Mx-p5 are you still offering retrofit services. I would be interested in getting a quote. Please let me know. Thanks.

Hey what do you guys think is the best headlight restorer out there? My headlights are kinda yellow and faded. Here's a pic below:
