FS-DE Oil System

Finally got in contact with Tom over at DocB and will be shipping him my new OEM pump on Monday night. Will be running an oil filter relocation kit and just wanted to write it out as I understand it to make it clear for people that are coming in to the end of this thread:

Oil Flow Path: Oil Pan > Oil Pickup > Doc B Oil Pump > OUT Oil filter relocation fitting on block > AN line > External PRV (bypassed pressure out to oil pan or MBSP)> AN line > IN external oil filter housing > Oil filter > OUT external oil filter housing > AN line > IN Oil filter relocation fitting on block > rest of engine > Oil Pan

Question for Doc B or the other engine gurus: Which is the better location to pull oil pressure? T-fitting with the OEM oil pressure sender or at the oil filter relocation fitting on the block?

If you tee at the block you will get an absolute reading for what will be flowing to the bearings and head. If you place it in the relocate adapter, you will get a flow reading which may be lower. I have my pressure sender crossed at the block with my turbo feed and the stock pressure sender. I see 90-100 psi cold starts, 25 psi warmed and oil temp running around 185*F, 20 psi idle after hard runs 220-250*F, while on the highway I'm around 60psi normal driving.

I'm sure the readings are not off enough to cause major issues, maybe 10 psi max..... Obviously they're going to be lower if the sender is in a flow by system like mine.

mp3racer pm me about the oil pump set up im looking at getting the upgraded unit
Or you know you could pm him seeing as its you who wants a pump coated...

Just trying to plan where to weld the fitting to my MBSP. Here are the most helpful posts in this thread I have found:

I really hate how AN lines look/don't flex. Can I use the black nylon braided rubber hoses?

I use the black braided lines. See my build thread for pics.

WOOT THANK YOU. Here are the links from your thread for anyone else wondering:

I have a coated pump, AWR pan, PRV, external filter, and oil cooler on their way. I am going turbo at the same time. Do I need to remove the tranny to install the new pump? I have gotten a few different answers to this question.

Yes. To get the main bearing support plate off you do. You need to take the mbsp off to be able to get the new oil pump sealed when you put it on. It's a big damn fiasco to do with the engine in but you can do it if you've got a hoist. Better just to pull it.

What part won't seal if I don't remove the MBSP?

So I can do this on a na car, correct. Also where is the best place to get an OEM or good quality pump?
