    p5 winter tires

i dont think you'll have any problems, assuming its a stock (height) suspension. i've been using 205x50x16 since the 2002p5 was brand new, with no problems. your tire is thinner (195 vs 205) and only slightly taller (628 vs 611) than mine. i wouldn't worry.

    how to clean an intercooler?

any suggestions about cleaning a front mount intercooler that picks up dirt, winter road salt, oil film, etc? what's best? eg, a high pressure or low pressure water hose, a mild solvent spray/foam or just soapy water? i'm thinking of just using a garden hose and soapy water, using one of...

100 octane on Spool Turboed cars?

corky bell's turbo book has a graph on page 155 that relates compression ratio, boost, and octane. probably a bit simplistic, but the graph suggests, at a 9:1 cr, you can run about 5-6 more psi if you run 100 octane (rather than 92).

    MAF vs. MAP

thx for the feedback. it's a little bit greek to me, but here's a post that suggests using a SAFC to make it work: http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/forums/topic.php?t=35963

    MAF vs. MAP

a mass air flow (MAF) sensor and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor are two different ways of feeding fuel to an engine. some cars use a MAF and some cars use a MAP, but i get the impression a MAP system is preferred for turbo use. can anyone explain why? here's some comments from the...

    Car got keyed....twice!!!

i had a similar mark on my door for about a year, probably from a shopping cart in a parking lot. scratch remover, coloured crayons, coloured wax, etc didn't fix it. so somebody re-ended the car about a month ago, and it went into a body shop for repair, and they fixed the scratch for free...

    how to stop joy rides?

if you take your car in for servicing, how do you stop the staff from taking it for a joy ride? there've been a couple of posts lately with pics of cars that had been dropped off for some minor body work or an oil change, and the staff crashed the cars out while out on a joy ride. the last...

    Getting Out Smoke Smell

i find the cleaners, sprays, scents (including the "new car scent")are just as offensive as the cigarette smoke. i used this BISSELL LITTLE GREEN vacuum cleaner last weekend, using just plain water (no little green additive), and it removed 99% of the scents...

    power shifting

there's several factors involved but i'd guess the best shift point is redline in each gear, because even though the torque curve is falling off, there's still more torque than if you shift to the next higher gear, where you may have more engine torque but less torque at the wheels (because...

    Shift Light

shift lites are great, cause you can keep your eyes on the road. i'd suggest getting a tach with the lite built in, cause it's cheaper overall. i've got the small autometer tach, and paid extra for the separate shift lite and control box. ridicuously expensive by the time i finished. here's...
