...plus another 8,000 or so songs on the iPod.

Alright:

1. We Are Scientists - With Love and Squalor
2. Less Than Jake - GNV FLA
3. Tegan and Sara - The Con
4. Dear & the Headlights - Small Steps, Heavy Hooves
5. Bayside - The Walking Wounded
6. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

And the spare:

Needtobreathe - Daylight

5. Bayside - The Walking Wounded

i just popped that one in my car too. its not bad, tho i tend to like their older stuff better. i saw them play at the chance in poughkeepsie like 5 years ago. not the best entertainers, but they did sound quite good live.

i'll take masterpiece as my favorite song of theirs, hands down, tho i think their self titled album is their strongest start to finish. give it a listen if you havent done so yet.

i saw Dear and the Headlights play with Vedera and The Outline once in town. they were cool.

Haven't listened to any other Bayside besides this new album. I do really dig this one, so I'm sure I'll be picking up their previous CDs sometime soon. You're the third person who has told me their old stuff is superior.

You know, my friend had me listen to their CD when he first got it. I passed it off as generic emo at first, but after a few listens I really began to love it. It's not so much the sound as it is what he writes. Anyhow, several people have told me they put on a decent live show.

The Illusion of Safety? :)

The Artist in the Ambulance > The Illusion of Safety IMO

regardless, i think thrice is vastly underrated. there are a lot of good rock-based bands out there that not many people know about because they dont get much play on the radio. its interesting to see bands that i've listened to for a while, but are only now getting noticed. good examples would be bayside and rise against, but i dont think thrice is willing to dilute their sound just to get on the radio like the others did.
