Hey guys, i was just given 01 protege 5, and i've been reading the posts here about installing an aftermarket deck i have a kenwood KDC-mp628 and it's currently in my 97 corolla. I have been looking at the pics and there will be a gap under the deck once i install it and people here on the board have been mentioning putting in a pocket??? am i right? how much does these pockets cost? where can i get one? is there a good online source as i live in a small town. hope this isn't repetitive i'm new at this! i'm going to attach a pic of the deck

Yes you need a pocket/mounting kit. and a wiring kit (Unless you wanna cut your factory wiring (bad idea!)

It has two video outs for aditional screens. It has an Aux input (video/left&right audio) I ton of speaker options including a center chanel for complete surround sound. Sound adjustments up the ass, with all kinds adjustable filters. It comes with two remotes for front or rear users. Seperate chanels so front seat can listen to music while back seat can watch movies.

An additional input for a backup camera.

My only dislike is setting the FM presets. Its scans for the next strong station then you can set in one of the 24 spots. I live in the mountains so some of the radio stations are not as strong depending on where you are at.

example if I want to set 107.5 in spot 4 I hit scan up and it stops on 105.9 then hit scan again and it stops on 90.3. Keep scanning up and down until you reach a spot where 107.5 comes in strong before you can save it.

I went with the Pioneer AVH-6800DVD, almost the same as the valor but with 6discs integrated in the radio. Cost me about 850$ off ebay. Also added a Pioneer AVG-VDP1 (Vehicule Dynamics Processor) gives all the readings off your engine, power,torque, acceleration, deceleration and lateral G force, slope, speed and odemeter and everything is recordable. That one was a steal for only 30$ brand new in box.
