Help identify this leak. Transmission? 2019 CX-5

:
2019 CX-5 Touring
Hi,

I noticed this leak yesterday after removing the splash guard/under shield.

Can anyone identify it, and does anyone have any other info regarding severity, course of action, etc?
I think the part it's on is the transmission but I'm not sure.

And yes, I know that's a lot of mud. I have the wrong car for my needs haha!

Mike,
Seems like leaky transmission seal.
Since yours is still within warranty, might want to have it fixed ASAP.

Thanks for the reply.

I have 61,000 miles so I'm just outside the warranty if I'm not mistaken (current sales have a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty and I believe that's what it was in 2019).

Still, yours is barely out of warranty.
If the fix costs a lot, you can negotiate with MazdaUSA to share the cost.
(I assume you are located in USA)

Or, get the parts and DIY.
You can purchase parts on several sites.
One of them is mazdaswag.com (a Mazda dealer)

how did all that mud get over the shielding? did you wash it off?
I drove through a fair amount of mud over the past month, some of it required speed to make it through, and the hatch in the shielding for the oil pan/filter came off.

But yet, I'm not exactly sure how it made it past the shield unless it was all through the missing hatch.
I was surprised at how much made it past.

That looks like the front transfer to me and not the transmission.

It could even be a leaky transfer drain plug
