Fuel Mileage (2015 CX-5)

:
2015 Mazda CX-5 Touring FWD
Went on a long trip recently, and turned over 100,000 miles. Oddly enough the mpg has increased after this. My traditional mileage on a 2013 CX5, and my current 2015 CX5 has always been around 30.0 on a highway with the air on. On this trip my MPG's for my last 5 fill ups have been, 32.7, 32.3, 33.8, 33.5, & 33.5 on the dash readout. Done mathematically by the pump read out they were 30.1, 30.1, 36.3, 33.2, & 33.3. Has anyone out there encountered this?

Always reset dash MPG readout from steering wheel, and also trip meters, A & B, unless I am using "B" for full lenght of trip.

lucky, I barely squeaked out 29 on our recent trip, but that was with a bike rack on the back, and driving on 2-lane state highways with 55 MPH speed limit. At 70 it was more like 26.

Lately for around-town driving we're lucky to get 23 or 24. It really does seem awful for a modern I4 vehicle.

In my 2016…My recent trip from CT to Maine resulted in around 31 MPG, which included several days of driving around Acadia National Park. This is using the MPG readout that I reset at the pump before taking off. Best I’ve ever seen.

2016 CX-5 Grand Touring. AWD

22 to 23 MPG in the city. I used to get about 26 MPG on the highway when commuting.

I could probably get better mileage out of it but I prefer to use 93 octane and I have a bit of a lead foot sometimes. And I use sport mode from time to time. Fun car to drive. Zoom zoom !!

I'm getting an indicated 25-27 mpg on a regular 3.5 mile one-way trip. Not quite 1 mpg less when computed at the pump. Peak speed of 50 mph for 2/3rds of the trip, the rest at 30 mph. I think that's very good.

I used to commute 50 miles one-way. My much smaller subaru impreza with cvt got 35 mpg on those county roads. My brand-new CX-5 got 33-34.

My 2019 gets me @ 28in town if I keep at the limit. People seem to always be in a hurry to get to the next red light. They don't even slow down when approaching a red. When I get passed I think to myself I'm glad they can afford the gas!

Your 2013 CX-5 had a 2.0L NA and the 2015 CX-5 should have a 2.5L NA. The 2013 CX-5 should have better gas meliagr due to a smaller engine, if everything else (FWD、AWD; auto、manual) is equal.

Not sure why you have better gas mileage on your 2015 CX-5 during the road trip. Different brand of gas, or summer gas should contribute some.

My 2016 CX-5 GT AWD with 2.5L NA gets 25 ~26 mpg in city, and 29 ~ 30 mpg on the highway. Driving above 70 mph on the highway would get 29 mpg or lower at best.

My gas mileage is consistent since new. Shell 87 is the only gas used most of time. The only time I found making obvious improvement on gas mileage is to turn the TCS off which we’re trying to remember to push the button each time we start the CX-5 with good weather. The MPG improvement is about 0.5 ~ 1 average by doing that.

Keep in mind when we discuss the gas mileage on the CX-5, FWD and AWD should be specified in addition to engine type as they do matter.

Same tire PSI as before?

I pulled my lightweight 16' boat w/25hp motor 40 miles, one way. MPG went down to 22.5 indicated, which is about 1mpg higher then calculated.

I was surprised it went down that far! Easy driving, top speed 55 mph.

This is probably going to cause a debate but I‘ll give it ago. I averaged 36mpg on the highway drafting behind a semi for about 45 minutes today. According to the trip computer. 2016 CX-5 AWD.

Driving down I-70 coming back to Indianapolis - 65 to 70 mph In the slow lane. I do use 93 octane gas. I checked the mileage number a few times, it was pretty consistent. I was a little surprised that drafting would make such a difference.
