Circuit's 03.5 Protege5

You gonna boost?

Nope LOL. The reason I pulled the motor is after a long, hot drive to LA my oil pressure was hitting 0 (ZERO) at idle - I think the pump overheated and the pressure bypass spring just died. Doing the DocB setup purely as insurance.

All the oil drains out of the filter when you shut the car off LOL

That's not entirely true. Have you changed your oil before? There is always a little left in the filter. In fact some manuals give both amounts for an oil change with and without a filter because of the amount of oil remaining in the filter.

Very true. Hmmm maybe I'll put it vertically LOL

A majority of the oil will still drain down so worse case scenario put a rag down when you take the filter off. There will be minimal oil in the filter because of the location as opposed to where the stock location is

Got the motor totally torn down today and realized I didn't have the oil pump crank shaft seal and gasket on the bottom that goes to the oil pickup lol. Will be picking that up from O'Reilly tomorrow to get the motor back together.

I used vice grips to hold the timing belt on each cam sprocket so all I need to do is pull the timing belt back on to the crank shaft and tighten the tensioner pulley.

It's for the initial cranking. When you tear down an engine, all oil galleries and oil pump are empty of oil. For the priming, you gotta crank the engine with ignition coils and injectors unplugged to make sure to have oil everywhere in your engine. Then you replug everything, start your engine and check for leaks or unusual noises.

The good thing about jelly is it's gonna suck the oil from the pan as soon as you'll crank. And also the pump will not run dry for a second.
