Circuit's 03.5 Protege5

but when skylines become as common as civics it's no longer as fun, a rust free protege is much nice IMO.

Yeah, forget the Skyline, its all about the P5s :)

I don't think you realize how upsetting it is to see this cancer grow on metal and the only thing you can do about it is cut and weld. :\

"Flat Aluminum" silver bay. Just needs some touch-up and cleaning and its time to start bolting things back up!

Decided to do a clear coat in the bay. This weekend, after some wet sanding and touch up, I cleared the bay with a satin high temp clear. Really happy with how it came out.

Same paint and clear coat on the fuse box bracket. Left a square unpainted for grounds.

Thought about moving the fuse box to the frame rail, but in the end decided against it for now so I can get the car running sooner. There are threaded holes already in the frame rail and I just drilled 2 holes in the side of the bracket. Everything cleared fine, but you have to extend the entire harness of wires coming through the driver's side fender. I didn't want to spend a whole weekend doing that wiring. Also, I couldn't really see any clean way to get that harness to the fuse box. Anything through the wheel well is in danger of being hit by the wheel, suspension, steering linkage, or axle. Running it through the bay defeats the purpose. I may tackle this in the future, but for now I just want to concentrate on getting the car running.

My axles are also stuck in the hubs. The passenger side axle nut will not come off no matter how big of a breaker bar I throw at it. I may need to go rent an electric impact and hope it doesn't blow the fuse for the 10 garages that mine is in the middle of lol. The driver's side is just plain stuck in the hub. My friend showed me this neat trick of soaking the hub in PB Blaster. All you need is a couple zip ties and a latex glove. Zip tie the open end of the glove around the hub, cut off the middle finger and fill with PB blaster, and zip tie the fingers up so the hub is totally immersed in the PB Blaster. Its been sitting for the last 24 hours. I'll probably let is sit for the next week and try to get it out next weekend.

hope it works for you too. i ended up buying a new axle, knuckle, and hub =_= good luck!

Only problem with fused shafts is that the bearing needs replacing afterwards :(

Same occurred for me with my drivers side (passenger side for us) biking.

Just saw this Circuit, lookin good. The speed you're moving at make mine look like father time....

LOL thanks man! I really want to get it running in the next month or so. Lots of shows this summer. Hopefully getting things mounted back into the bay this weekend, along with trying to get the axles out again lol.

Axles are not coming out LOL. The drivers side sat with that PB blaster for like 2 weeks and wouldn't budge. Looks like I'm getting replacement hubs and new axles.

Had a little time yesterday so I ground down the metal where the fuse box bracket touches the body to make a good ground. Mounted the fuse box back up. No pics of that.

Picked up a raw single wheel of what my new setup is going to be - MTechnica Aeros. This is just for test fitting with the MZ6 brakes and front clearance. Everything is looking good. Specs are 17x9 +25 with a 2" step lip. Will need a bit more camber and will be running 215/40's.

Bolted IM coated by Nate (maleskimp3) to the motor with new gaskets and thermal spacers. Cleaned up the Throttle Body and EGR valve so they look close to new.

Got the fuse box all mounted back up and taped the wiring from the box up. Left the roll of tape on the bundle so I can continue with a single wrap once I know where everything goes.

For the battery relocation, ran power wires through the firewall next to the main wiring bundle. One is the OEM wire to the starter and the other will go to the fuse box. They are connected inside the cabin via a fused distribution block that goes 0 gauge all the way back to the hatch. Also you can see the charcol canister mounted much lower than factory on a factory stud. I drilled a center hole in the bracket and resprayed the bracket flat black.

^ For real, such good info here. Will help me later on.

What kind of battery you going with?

Some Deka equivalent of a Braille. Same one JT has. I need to get the part # from him lol. Will be mounting it where the jack is. Hidden, of course.

Went back out into the garage for an hour and got the Blox oil filter relocation ends installed. Oil filter is temporary and is just the one I had on the motor before I pulled it.
