Today's fill up: 360.05 miles @ 12.64 gallons = 28.48 mpg. My low fuel light had JUST come on.... thought hard about trying to go the extra 40 I needed to hit the 400 mark but what can I say, I'm a weanie! I drive about 75% highway, 25% city and usually average 25/27 in the winter, 28/31...

Just One More Reason to Love this Forum

I've been fiddle-farting around on this forum for almost two years now and only within the last few months have actively started posting, etc..... Even though I don't "know" any of you, you have all made me feel a part of this community (even though I haven't contributed much of anything) and I...

2003 Mazda Protege5 Headlamp retainer clip

Yeah.... good luck with that - I'd be interested in hearing where you were able to locate one. Oh and just a small piece of advice, you may want to check the integrity of the little tab thingy (sorry, that's blonde speak for I don't know what the hell it's actually called;)) that the clip sits...

How do you replace the Protege Headlight bulb?

"mention that you're both an active member of an online car community, and an avid blogger" Hey thanx Wagonbacker9.... never would have thought of using my "pull" as a member of Mazdaforums - yet another perk of this wonderful community! Thanks for the great suggestion - will let you know how...

How do you replace the Protege Headlight bulb?

I've personally never replaced the bulbs but my hubby has gotten REAL good at doing it:) Thought I would save a few bucks a couple of weeks ago - Jiffy Lube would replace it $15.00.... BIG mistake! The a-holes took the retaining clip OFF, didn't have the right bulb in stock and after almost an...

    Rearview mirror temperature gauge question

I've looked through my owner's manual and unless I'm totally missing something somewhere, there is no reference to it all.... Thanks though for your input, that makes sense......

    Rearview mirror temperature gauge question

I have an outside temperature gauge in my rearview mirror and although this seems like a silly question, I've always wondered why sometimes it will read "Ice". There seems to be no ryhme or reason - it will read "ice" at varying degrees of temperature.... it makes sense to me that it'll do it...

Timing Belts - The Root of ALL Evil!

Didn't go as far as slappin' a new belt on but did do a compression test - I had a big fat zero in two cylinders (don't remember which two) and next to nothin' in the other two...... ah well, ya live and learn huh? But like Mike said, at least I have a spare that can be rebuilt - woohoo I get...

Timing Belts - The Root of ALL Evil!

No offense taken slavrenz - you're right, I didn't actually open her up..... I just assumed that it was destroyed based on the fact that the dealer (it was a FORD dealer who also sells Mazdas by the way and definately NOT my usual dealer) told me that it had an interference head. It pisses me...

Timing Belts - The Root of ALL Evil!

So now I am TOTALLY confused - I was told by a mazda dealer that our engines have an interference head and now I'm reading here that we [B]don't[B] have interference heads..... so which is it?

Aww crap....I bought another crappy engine...

And here I was thinking that the deal I got wasn't that great - after hearing your hard luck story I'm considering myself lucky..... I got mine with 70,000 for $700.00 from a wrecking yard and it came with a 180 day, unlimited miles warranty. Sure hope yours ends up working for you somehow....
