For those that have LSD noise after switching to MT90

Hmmm, OK. I question the responsibility for your transmission issues. It sounds like you are just hard on transmissions. in 40 years of autocrossing and aggressive street driving in a multitude of cars, I have never damaged a gearbox. -enganear

For those that have LSD noise after switching to MT90

Your reasons? I got an easily discernible improvement in shift quality after switching to MT90, especially 2-3. There may be even better oils out there that I have not tried, but I would never go back to the factory fill after living with MT90 and I am unlikely to switch because I am quite...

For those that have LSD noise after switching to MT90

Facts about lsds & friction modifiers Cone clutch lsds make a moaning sound when turning sharply at low speeds. Get used to it like clanging bpvs. Friction modifiers were developed to prevent chatter in plate clutch lsds by increasing "slipperiness". Cone clutch lsds and gear synchronizers...

Spin-on ready for the next oil change

After starting this thread 8 pages ago, I finally installed my spin-on adapter today. The single screw in the top of the oil cooler is a PITA, but the install is straightforward. Anyone who says it is super-easy must own a regular 3, not the MS3 See the attached pictures in numerical order...

Will Synthetic oil ruin my turbo?

You will probably get some story from the Mazda techs, all they know is 5W30 for the MS3 and 5W20 for the regular 3 and they frequently confuse that. The only reliable oil change is the one you do yourself. I buy my PP at OReilly's, but Walmart carries it, too. -enganear

Will Synthetic oil ruin my turbo?

Synthetic is not recommended in a rotary because oil is metered into the fuel to improve sealing in their long rectangular combustion chamber. The synthetic doesn't burn well. Hang out on www.bobistheoilguy.com if you want to learn about oils, or save yourself the time and just use Pennzoil...

Power Hesitation when shifting into 3rd?

Removing the shifter mass helps with the 2-3 shift. The linkage has to lift the mass to move to the 3-4 gate. Try it, its easily removed or replaced. Removing the shifter mass and installing MT-90 FTW! -enganear

    Steering Groan

What you are hearing is the cone-type LSD that Mazda used in the Speed3. They all do this. At low speed with the steering wheel cranked over, there is significant difference in the speed of the two front wheels. You are hearing the stick-slip of the steel cones sliding inside steel cones in...

Never, Ever, EVER let a girlfriend drive your MS3

It is very easy on the MS3 to catch your heel on the floor mat and have the grippy points on the pedal stick against the bottom of your shoe holding pressure on the clutch. Try it sometime, it is easy to duplicate. I don't know a godd fix other than cutting down the rubber pads on the pedal...

Stiffen your Mazda 3, Mazdaspeed 3 shifter for FREE

IMHO, no. This mod should not impact any components and should not be detectable by the dealer unless they disassemble the bushings which is doubtful. -enganear
