    Squeaky Belts

The alternator itself is the tensioner for the water pump/alternator belt. Its very annoying when you change this belt because the new belt will stretch out initially and you have to re-tension it. You have to remove the passenger side wheel and go underneath, loosen the alternator bolts...

Stripped stud on rear motor mount?

Same thing happened to me with that bolt when I replaced my auto transmission. I just left it that way, two years and 18k so far and no problem.

How to cure Cel/Mil from removing cat with Non-Fouler

Check what the code is. This fix works for P0421 caused by failure of the precat but you may have something else going on. Always make sure your ignition coils and spark plugs are good. Running with bad coils or plugs will give you a misfire code which is associated with this problem.

Help!!! What's happening? Flashing check engine

^This. The ignition coils go bad and take the cat with 'em. I recommend the non-fouler trick 1,000%

My car randomly died and wont start!

sounds like it could be the coil packs, like citizenpro suggested. they start getting progressively bad over time until the car just won't start anymore. you can check them with an ohmmeter, the service manual describes that test. or i guess you can buy one of them and find out which is bad by...

Replacing thermostat on Mazda Protege 1997

Yes. There's two bolts on the front of the motor. Its down on the drivers side where the main hose goes in. A little coolant will spill out but nothing serious, just dont do it when its hot if you don't have to. Its very easy, no gaskets or sealant needed. I've noticed that before your...

    How-To: VTCS Removal and Porting

You would lose torque on the low end and gain absolutely nothing. It has to do with harmonics.

    Leaking valve cover gasket?

Is it really that bad though? Mine has built up a good bit of goo after 100k miles but it isn't a problem and it isn't any measurable amount of oil lost. I'm sure the dealer would tell me mine is "leaking" too. It isn't worth the time/money/headache. Don't worry about it. Just do it when...

Need advice from someone with OBDII knowledge

Yes. This is shown on 1-16-20 of the service manual: Inversions of sensor 1 have to be at a 2:1 ratio with inversions of sensor two or the p0421 is thrown. As far as the e85 comment I have no idea, but in GA and many other states they changed the law to force 10% ethanol on us. I have no...

Need advice from someone with OBDII knowledge

Mine just threw that code today. I replaced my spark plugs Sunday and this directly caused my old ass ignition coil to crap out while driving last night and I had to limp home about 1 mile on just two cylinders (not the best thing to do, I know). I replaced the coil today and everything seemed...

    10% Ethanol Gas at Quicktrip

As much as I'd like to believe that it simply isn't true. It's hippie bulls***. Ethanol will make us at most 1% less dependent on towelheads who want to kill us. http://zfacts.com/p/63.html Drill ANWR in Alaska, dammit, its the only answer. Don't sell me garbage that ruins my underpowered...

    10% Ethanol Gas at Quicktrip

It isn't really cheaper anywhere else. Sure, the government subsidizes it in other states making the price per gallon less, but you're still paying more through the back door in taxes to subsidize it and the increase in food prices due to the growing demand for corn. So you're getting screwed...

    10% Ethanol Gas at Quicktrip

Seems like all the gas stations around here have that sticker on the pumps except BP. BPs real gas was $3.359. Racetrac/QT/Shell's E10 bulls*** gas is $3.299. So the real gas costs about 1.8% more. I think the difference in gas mileage is more than a 1.8% difference. yee-haw!

    10% Ethanol Gas at Quicktrip

Here is another possibility. When a station switches to the ethanol blend it can pump out water that has collected in the tank into your car. I think it is possible that since this QT just switched to the e10 blend that I could have gotten some crappy gas with water in it. This could have...
