De-badge and de-rust
Broke out the grinding wheel and a bit of bondo for the rear wheel well and trunk. I didn't know that stuff sets up in < 5 minutes at 91 degrees! Doh!
It all came out nice once I applied the primer. I just need to match up the paint.
May 2006 72,000 miles $7800- beautiful condition.
Aug 2009 156,000 miles- and counting. Has had general maintenance (tires, breaks, etc)
Add another ~$600 in parts installed by yours truly. Bottom line- extremely happy with purchase!
Just replaced my pass side axle in '02 Pro5.
Remove 2 bolts on shock
Remove caliper (for more room) and tie up to spring
Removed outer tie rod (just because I was "in the neighborhood" and replaced with new at end of job)
Remove hub nut (32mm)
I think that's everything?
Move hub assembly out of...
Nothing sexy
New Pass Side axle (big hammer needed), control arm, and hub assembly (with wheel bearings). Sorry to the guy who wrecked his blue Pro5 but I'll take his parts anyway... thank you very much. Oh yeah last week new altenator and belts. The altenator was a BEAR to remove by the way!

Ever have that 14mm alternator pivot bolt freeze up? New England car with 155k.
Holy crap... was that a pain in the but.
If you're in a similar situation I suggest spraying it with a lube a day or so in advance. Go in from behind the wheel, use the little red straw, and be as acurate as...
Fun PM
Past weekend full of fun preventative maintenance:
Plugs
cleaned KandN air filter
New oil- and filter
brake pads and rotors.
Next up... my first big job on the P5- front strut R and R (with wat I don't know yet)
28.7 at 33.6mph
Around 355 miles/fuel up +-5
Add 12.5 gallons/ fuel up +-0.25
Commute time approx 1.25 hours +- a schoolbus (you all know what I mean)
Commute distance 42 miles 1 way 5 Days a week
Beats the 94 Yota 4Runner coming in at 17.5 mpg!
Enjoy
Windshield Reflector
My first though was tint too. However, the space blanket idea made me think of the windshield reflector/sun deflector. Whatever, you call them. Good luck.
K&N filter w/ grill mod
Chose the stock with grill mod. However, installed K&N airfilter.
Anybody have thoughts that a CAI might be a "little much" in cold weather states when the P5 is my everyday driver? This is all a bit new to me.
