Dealers sure want that mad oil change money...

Just had an oil change in February at 26,500. Oil change light comes on just the other day at 28,000. Are these dealers shortening the mileage cycle hoping to cash in or what? I do want to continue to maintain my 3/36 which goes out in August, but this is ridiculous.

You can go in and reset the light. I don't go by the light. Track it myself. They probably set it for
3,000 miles so it's giving you advance warning. You're good for 5,000, maybe even 7,500 depending on how you drive. Just make sure it gets changed once a year at least.

I turn off all maintenance checking on the first day I bought my Mazda. (all four of them).
I go by mileage interval (5k oil change). Easy to remember.
I don't need a car to tell me what to do. ;)
