Any photographers in here?

Yeah. I need to work on studio lighting techniques. Any tips to get a good rim light on the model on a white background?

You don't need (or want) rim light on the subject using a blown-out background. The whole point of the rim light (or hair light for portraits) is to create separation. A white background naturally creates separation. Indeed, you really should be lighting your subjects and background separately, but it sounds like the dimensions of your studio don't allow for that exactly.

I know you were attempting a certain affect, but maybe blowing out the background isn't right for your concept. First, the white background seems way too sterile for the b-boy subject. I know, I know: juxtaposition...but it doesnt really do too much for the dancer, either IMO. Maybe you could illuminate the subject and allow the white seamless go to gray.

PS: Where are you getting this great Profoto and Elinchrome gear?

Yea..about the white..the clients wanted these in white because they're going on flyers and posters for the event that they're promoting. It's easier to work with since the poster/flyers are mostly white already. Graphic designer's job might be easier.

Also..the studio..is tiny. I'll post the studio shot later tonight.

And the studio actually provided the lights and all the gear. I just had to bring my lenses, and camera.

I love these kind of places. I wish we had one where I live.

Makes me miss my old ride...

what do you guys use to combat lens flair? I get wicked spots all over my pictures from the stupid sun all the time. I have a UV filter on there, and when I remember to take that off, it gets slightly better, but still...
