It's on the left side inside the cowling surrounding the navi lcd. It's picking up a signal through the wndshield, can't see how tinting would affect it, unless of course you're tinting the windshield, currently illegal in all 50 states(cryhard)

remember you can insist your insurance pays for a genuine Mazda windshield rather than the crap ppg most glass shops use.

The recall completely cured my frozen latch problem which occurred 3-4 times before the fix. even down in DC, I would get it done.

I have the Kenwood under the front pass seat. It's thin enough that if you attach it with small blocks to raise it off the floor vents it works fine. I considered putting a bazooka tube in the back but I didn't want to lose the storage space, and my wife prefers the woofer under her seat (wink)
