What have you done to your MSP today?

Seriously though love your car im super stoked that there is still such hot action amongst us few remaining protg aficionados.

This is more like a "what have I not done to my msp" post lol. I have been brutalized with work and some personal issues such that I have had zero time for any wrenching on the msp. That does not mean I have lost the love by any means however and here I am to prove that with some pics of what is waiting to happen. I have been actively collecting parts for the upcoming build and wanted to show everyone what is brewing and to also spark a little fire in the msp community. There is a lot more than this some things are on the car already and some things are in boxes still from a recent move but this will give you a good idea. The msp is currently resting in the garage the trunk is off and I am removing some rust I found under the rubber weather seal strip ugh I hate rust!! The Volvo s60 handles the DD duties and the mp3 gets to be driven about twice a week when I meet up with some friends for the over 40 skate sessions (if I can handle it that is)! Heres the pics:

Guys, this is nothing compared to what I have seen. This is just part of what he has! Can't wait to see you get this build started, its gonna be one bad ass MSP. Not saying no one from the past who has done it wasn't bad ass, but for a latest build, this one is gonna be SICK! You have some top notch and high quality parts there my friend. Happy to see there still are people building these cars still. Keep it going bud!! Great job with all them parts, theres a lot of money there.(I know) lol..... One day, I may just follow your steps. Not as well as you have but something to it.

Flushed the cooling system again in #1345 and re-installed my weapon R oil catch can. I had it ran from the intake to the PCV before and it would leak under boost and blow oil out the fittings. Saw on an Evo forum to install another PCV on the intake side of the catch can so it will close under boost and the can won't become pressurized so I gave that a shot. Seems to be working so far.

bought a few things in the past few weeks to get the white protege and msp on the road. just partially paid for a fidanza flywheel finally. so that'll be driving soon.

Had the bumper off of 1345 the other day to straighten the IC core and swap the headlights and was looking at the damaged crash bar. I rear ended a girl that cut me off years ago and since there was no damage to the bumper or paint I just let it go. I am ready to fix it now, straighten the core support a bit and a new crash bar will have it good as new again. There is a black P5 at the junkyard I grabbed the steering wheel out of last week, I went back today and grabbed the crash bar from it along with the foam on the front and the plastic clips below the headlights that were broken on my car. Also grabbed an almost perfect driver side headlight and some black 03 cup holders from an LX for a local MSP owner.

car wont build boost.. if you punch it hard at lower rpm it will spike at 5 but as the revs climb, the boost drops to just under vac on my gauge. i can hear the turbo is spooling and moving air but not spooling high. not a boost leak as id expect to hear the turbo working harder. gonna have to get in there and have a look for sure. car runs and drives as a normal na car but with a massive restriction heh. hope the turbo hasnt failed, though i wonder if the wga could be stuck open ect.

No way! That's awesome. Push for protg development! Haha

Lol I was mentioning it during my interview but they have to sell parts that will make a profit and to do that there has to be a large demand. They were pretty confident however that I may be able to talk to some of the ECU programmers that crack the stock ECUs and write the codes for the Accessport into cracking the Protege ECU to custom tune it. One of the guys cracked his NC Miata ECU for his personal car, even though they don't support them. The Ford EEC-IV ECU in the protege is different than the NC but it can still be done. Ford vehicles with the same ECU have been cracked and had the ability to custom tune for years but (aside from the apparently failed orange virus tune) nobody has done it for the Protege yet. If I can have it done it will be a game changer for sure.

Orangevirus was successful, he just got butt hurt and scraped the project. I know he gave it to a guy on facebook that prepaid but don't remember the guys name. He must not have followed through. The ECU is a EEC-V Mustang and Ford Probe used it but of course each was configured differently.
Congrats on the new job!

wellll. it wasnt anything complicated.. but the vibrant cone filter ive been using app isnt high quality and the metal cap on the inside of it came off and blocked my intake lol. i have a 2.25" pipe opening up to a 3" pipe on my sri and it wedged itself in the reducer nicely. turbo had some oil on the inlet of the housing but not the intake pipe, good amount of oil on the hot pipe and prob intercooler, but none on the cold pipe.
im sure the turbo isnt too happy but meh to that right now i guess.

Thanks man. Yeah most all Ford vehicles of the 90s had the same ECU but Mazda used unique programming and encoded them differently. Some companies release their ECU data after they stop making the car but Mazda typically does not. So someone out there does have the Orange Virus prom chip installed and running on their Protege? I guess the guy at orange virus wasn't prepared, seemed to me if you did the work to make the tune possible you would want to reap the rewards and not give up before selling any of them.

The oil may have been from the restriction in the intake, sometimes it can leak oil past the seals if the intake is blocked. If you removed the blockage and there is no side to side shaft play your turbo is probably alright.

Picked up an exhaust mani gasket and some strong carbon cleaner to finally fix the broken exhaust studs (again) with ARPs this time, hopefully for the last time. Also installing an un-cracked Callaway mani and will be cleaning up all the exhaust soot that sprayed all over the motor and turbo. Car has been running crappy so this should help.
Decided I will save the low mileage T25 for 1345 when I install the Steedspeed then save up for a GTX28.

Oh and a neighbor of mine and friend of my parents has an 05-06 Subaru Legacy GT that he says burned an exhaust valve. He is buying another one just like it and said if I help him swap his aftermarket parts from the old car to the new one he would give me the old one. It will be put back to stock and will need the heads redone or replaced but I'm pretty excited about it. Not to mention it's a vehicle that Cobb supports. Having an EJ25 that can handle 400whp on the stock block and an AWD platform will be quite an upgrade. I think a local MSP guy wants to buy #1574 when his tax return comes in so that will help me make room for the Legacy. Although I do really want a spicy that is for sale in Dallas right now.
