What have you done to your MSP today?

How bad is the rust? One guy is parting a titanium on FB and the rust is mostly on the rear subframe. He could easily replace the subframe and keep the car but i guess he is ignorant or just doesn't care.

I think I have found my next project, was talking to the owner of a spicy that I think I can fix up. Just have to get my titanium sold but the spicy owner says he will hang onto it for me. Pretty stoked about it, I hope it works out.

Basically everywhere plastic meets metal is gone. Strut towers starting to get holes. All the plastic looks fantastic though. If anyone wants titanium mirrors it gives me a reason to take them off. Most of the stuff left wouldnt be worth it for me to ship, but msp mirrors getting hard to find. Took me some years to find really good yellow ones.

Swapped the AC compressor and dryer and sealed the seam behind the tail light that has been leaking water into my trunk as long as I have had the car. Need to seal the other car too. Now I may just buy a gauge set and charge the AC myself or take it back to Mazda and use the AC machine.

I also hear a clanking sound from the exhaust over bumps in 1574, looked inside the muffler and I can see a pipe rolling around in there. So now I need to find another MSP muffler or have this one cut open so I can remove or repair the pipe and then weld it back up.

I think the car knows I'm selling it. I will probably cut it open, remove the pipe and have someone that can tig weld stainless weld it back up.

transplanted the ebrake handles today lol. small progress but looks so much better than the peeling chrome of the old one. contemplating if its worthwhile to pull the dash cover....or the carpet.

should have some really nice pics of the car when i get the the all seasons back on. all new interior, clean wheels. gonna be awsome.

The dash is a pain to remove, but honestly is easier than most other cars. Depends how damaged/faded your old dash is. Carpet isn't really bad at all once you pull the seats and console.

Picked up an AC manifold gauge set today along with some freon and PAG oil. Borrowed a vacuum pump from Polaris and ran a vacuum on the system. Seems to be holding nicely. Going to charge it tomorrow, don't want to piss off the neighbors running the car this late. Will be nice having a good AC and quiet compressor for the first time with this car. AC always worked well but the bearings were bad in the compressor so it made noise whether or not it was running. Exhaust leak is really annoying me and is making the car run crappy. Once the AC is done I will pull the turbo and replace the manifold, may throw the low mileage turbo on, haven't made up my mind yet. The turbo is fine but I suspect it is pushing oil, may try to swap the air filter on it first since it is pretty old. If I end up getting another MSP it would not be a bad idea to keep a good T25 on hand.

it seems that all the clips that run up the sides of the car holding electrical are running through the carpet.. i guess i could just rip them all up but that sounds kinda time consuming. only reason i want to consider the swap is there is a hole in the floor on the passenger side so my carpet/insulation is prob getting moldy under.

I wish we did a compression test on the donor car before ripping it apart... the engine is on the floor with trans attached and when i drove it the one time, it seemed to run well and pull nicely. no trans dramas at all. no clutch slip. just the exhaust leak from two missing manifold bolts. it doesnt even smoke like mine does. but mine also has no cats, which might add to that when its cold out.

i was thinking of swapping the entire driveline untouched over and build my stock engine but meh.. just sucks to make a shotgun decision on this when i have limited time to use the shop. hate to get the donor in there and have it bow up a week later heh.

I don't think any wiring attaches to the carpet itself, it just runs underneath. Definitely need to fix that hole in the floor though

finished stripping the car today. i have all kinds of random s*** to sort through now. like a gauge cluster.. not sure if anyone would want that but i have it.

since it was gonna cost $60 to get rid of the car, i pulled all the interior trims, carpet, wiper and blinker assembly, driver airbag, the ac and ps pumps i didnt really want to bother with.
I have lots of interior door handles, power window switch banks, center bezels. good times.

on the hunt for a really good condition steering wheel. or maybe i should just go aftermarket.. i dunno. now that i think of it, since i pulled the front door lock actuators, maybe i should take out the door handles themselves. the rear ones are kinda.. no fun to get to the bolts.

If the painted outside handles are in good shape they would be worth removing. Clean steering wheels are not easy to find, I bought one a few months ago and don't want to install in because I don't want to wear it out. Already have an MSM and P5 wheel in the MSPs though.

I charged the AC yesterday in 1574 and it works great, even stays cold when sitting still. Next is the exhaust mani and studs, then the tint and hopefully the muffler and windshield.

Meh bdoor handles are nothing special though. Getting at the bolts in the rear doors is time consuming and uncomfortable task.
I could maybe pull the fronts quicklike. I guess having spares wouldnt be bad.

If you are scrapping the whole car you could just cut out the metal to get to them. They are faded on one of my cars and I know I'm not the only one that has that problem.

waiting for some paint to dry, i took the door handles, door locks from the rear and rear speakers, wiper motor heh... i wanted to take the power window actuators but i think those have to come out with the rail holding the glass so maybe not. if its possible to take them out in a few minutes without help I might attempt before the tow truck comes tomorrow.

door handles look pretty good to me, but i dont own a "nice" titanium to compare.

Picked up a blower motor for the AC at the junkyard yesterday. There is a black P5 there I pulled it from. Since I bought 1574 the fan has made a clicking sound, I pulled it when I first bought it and cleaned a bunch of leaves out but it still made the noise. Finally replaced it last night and now it is nice and quiet. The next owner won't even know half of the little annoyances and problems I have fixed on this car.

And my 10-14psi yellow spring came in for my Forge WGA so I swapped it out, it had the 5-10psi green spring in it before. Going to install it when I swap the turbo and install the Steedspeed on the forged car.

looks like i could lose use of the shopspace at any time. gonna drag the titanium body parts to a wand wash today and spray all the crap off them, try to get some black sealer on them if i can find a local supplier of 3m paint cups.
i kinda wish i had bought the poly cup for my prolite but the pps cups just make a cleaner better sprayjob. I suppose for sealer i could just buy some black rattle primer but id rather use the 2k sealer i have.
I dont think there is much bogging to do. maybe a few rock chips. we both drive 40km highway to work in the morning and then back, so chips are just gonna happen. my front splitter looks awful and has to be media blasted from all the repaints ive done to it.

im more excited to make her car look like an msp than any of the parts i took for myself lol. i never imagined id be able to get the full ground kit for what i did and for it to be in such good condition is awsome.

This is more like a "what have I not done to my msp" post lol. I have been brutalized with work and some personal issues such that I have had zero time for any wrenching on the msp. That does not mean I have lost the love by any means however and here I am to prove that with some pics of what is waiting to happen. I have been actively collecting parts for the upcoming build and wanted to show everyone what is brewing and to also spark a little fire in the msp community. There is a lot more than this some things are on the car already and some things are in boxes still from a recent move but this will give you a good idea. The msp is currently resting in the garage the trunk is off and I am removing some rust I found under the rubber weather seal strip ugh I hate rust!! The Volvo s60 handles the DD duties and the mp3 gets to be driven about twice a week when I meet up with some friends for the over 40 skate sessions (if I can handle it that is)! Heres the pics:
