Just thought I would share. 2nd time this has happened to me this year. The car is parked outside and we live in a pretty rural area...

Last year, I found a 2lb dead rat under the engine. Lots of fun cleaning him out of there. Fortunately, the stink was all in the engine and cleaned-up with Clorox.

Last week I go out to my car and smell that good old smell 'o death. Looked around inside the engine and the area where my last friend was. Nothing. I was just about the start it up when I looked in the crack next to the open door in the wheel well. Lots of brown fur. Turns out a full size rabbit had stuffed himself in there and died. Fantastic. Pulled the wheel and fender liners and pulled him out. More clorox...

(blarf)

I just ordered some of those "Fresh Cab" packets and am installing an ultrasonic device near the car.

Lol I had a rat (or small squirrel? I forget) die under the hood of the 6 once. It took me a while to figure out what the smell was.

Good thing it wasn't a skunk who's entrails got all over your hot engine parts... Had that happened to me, and there was skunk meat cooking all over my engine when I accidentally ran over some fresh road kill. This was on my focus back in the day... >< Smelled rotten for 2 weeks...

The rat smell was on the car for a few weeks - even with a lot of Clorox. The trick is to catch them before they pop. :)

I will post the results with the Cab Fresh stuff. It seems the critters do not like cedar and peppermint oil.

Bats. Every time i pull my bumper off. They get in there and are blind so they can't get out. Bats.

I ran over a frozen deer carcass (dragged out into road by coyotes I assume) once in a jetta. Came over the crest of a hill at about 50-55 and it was right in the center of my lane. Tried to straddle it but it got lodged. I could feel the vibrations from it scraping the road through my feet. Stopped and looked and it was straight under the center of the car. Tried to go forward and back to get it to pop free. Didn't really know what to do. Made it about a quarter or half mile before it finally came free.

Funny smell of cooking meat and burnt hair was lingering for a week or two...

I just went through a carwash with an underbody wash. Didn't get rid of the smell completely, but I just waited for the rest to cook off naturally. :)

It didn't do any damage to the car either surprisingly.

I'm only quoting this guy because I'm astonished nobody acknowledged this post, lol. Bats in your bumper? thats the craziest thing I've ever heard.

Went to leave work one day, and my buddy called me over to his car ... He was checking the oil on his escort cuz the thing leaked oil about as fast as it went through gas ... anyway, stuffed down between the radiator and the engine was a full sized woodchuck.

Not my decision but my boss scared it out and beat it with a shovel, woodchucks are the enemy on a farm lol

No dead animals, but I pulled the intercooler once and there was a giant rats nest under there.
