Story Time: Here is the entire story for anybody who is interested.
- Last year my LSD went out without warning at a stop sign. I had it towed to a mechanic who took about two months to replace the LSD between the time I got it to the shop, hunted down a welded LSD for him, and installed it.
-After I got my car back my turbo went out and started to make noise. At this point there was no correlation between the turbo and the LSD so I picked up a turbo and swapped it out. My mistake was not replacing the oil line because shortly after I got the work done I could feel the turbo wasn't right. As I was doing the work on weekends this took another few months to collect parts as I decided to stick with a GT2554
-Took it to a real turbo specialist who pulled the turbo and found that the oil line was caught between the engine block and the transmission. He quoted me $2K for a new turbo without oil line, gaskets, labor. I said screw it and hunted down a GT2860RS. Again this took way too long because I happened to be the one finding my parts because he decided to overprice his parts. When he found the oil line I should have brought it back to the original shop and complained but I waited till I had all the paper work in hand of the final cost and by that time it was about a year later.
My two faults were not checking the oil line the first time around and not taking the oil line back immediately. As a result the first mechanic says that his warranty was only for 3 months not longer than that. That's an update.
