Toys for Tots Cruise 2007

Okay M-Spec...it's been a year. I just got a call from the Toys for Tots buggy club rep. Cruise is on Sunday, November 25, 2007, 9:00 a.m. at Magic Island. It will end at Waikiki Shell as usual. Bring a new or unopened toy to be donated to needy children for the holiday season. The Marines will be delivering the toys...well...since most of them are deployed...they will be seeking the assistance of Goodwill this time round.

Remember...all traffic rules must be followed. Like last year, I think we will not be able to get a police escort, so we must stop for all red lights and again...we must follow all traffic rules. I may set up a meeting spot before so that we can cruise to Magic Island together too keep as a group because the entire Magic Island parking lot was full with suped up cars last time. It was hard to find people.

I will keep this updated as much as possible as I get more information especially when the time is near.

Everyone shows up at Magic Island parking lot and rolls out to Waikiki Shell with their toy donations in a huge group.

What I try to do is to set up a small meet up in the Pearl City area about an hour before the meet and drive down as a group.

how long does it take to get from magic island to the shell usually?

I believe it took about 45 minutes to an hour to get from Magic Island to Waikiki Shell. The group was so large last year. I believe the group made the military truck overflow. I can't remember if they brought another truck or not. I just remember they had to shut the back of the truck a little bit early because it was filled to the top. It takes a bit to get through Waiks because you have to wait in line to get out of Magic Island. Once you get out, you have to obey the traffic rules. We were caught at each red light for a few cycles depending on the intersection. When you get to the Shell, you have to wait in another line to drop your toy off. Many just parked where they could and walked their donations over. After that, you have to wait in line to get out of Waikiki.

If we meet in Pearl City, that will probably have to be about 7:45 a.m. with a roll out of 8:00 a.m. I still need a little bit more information from the Buggy club. They still haven't posted the meet yet, only that call.

Okay, I'm super sick and am not sure if I can make this function. By all means, you guys can meet up w/o me and run for the cause.

I'll try to wake up in time for this LOL! 8:15 a Blaisdell Park (there may be several other clubs doing the same. I recall a Mustang club rolled out of there in force), roll out 8:30 a to Magic Island by 9:00 a then they roll out at 10:00 a to Waikiki Shell w/ the donations. Hopefully that is still current/correct and everything runs smooth.
