The 2nd protege (mp3)

Awesome build!!! Let me know how that header works out. I've had mine from spooled up racing in for about 6 months now and still cant get the check engine light to go out... I've tried just about every fix to get it to go out.

Thanks man! I'll have to look into the header issue when the time comes closer. Hopefully I won't run into any issues like that

Just hit 167k km yesterday = 103,768 miles - I would like to get a beater for next winter and keep this car stored.

Besides that not much has been going on, I did get some Racing Line Adjustable endlinks and Retrofit headlights (GTI Shroud with miromoto mini retrofits) from bikingpro5. Just waiting for the weather to warm up now so my coilovers can be installed

Hey man thanks for the advice. What colour is underneath the black vinyl? I just don't want it to be body coloured I will leave it as is if so.

Yeah it's the same color as the body, I think it looks a lot better.

Are you getting KSport rear top hats to adjust rear camber? Or are you not really doing the whole camber/slammed thing?

The projector headlight look really good ! I need some haha. Continue to keep your MP3 clean and rust free while using it all year long... This what is kills mine

No camber plates, not going for the slammed look but just want it a bit lower than it is now especially the rears. And it's nice to have some damper adjustments

My wheel specs are not aggressive enough to be on that level :p

Thanks man, it's tough with this winter but I've taken a lot of precaution to prevent rust. But the plan is to store it next winter in a heated garage

We are starting to get some better weather here in Canada so i decided to go ahead and install my BC coilovers last week with a few of my friends from TOProtege.

My initial impression of the coilovers were excellent. Out of the box the fitment was spot on; we didnt run into any issues with the install (knuckle bolts came right off and endlinks as well). It took us about 5 hours but we took our time and we were also working on another protege. I installed new front endlinks that came with BC and racingline adjustable rear endlinks. After the install i went out for a test drive with out of the box setting (dampening level set at 21 out of 30. The ride was way too stiff out of the box and i found myself bouncing around the road. Dialed it down a bit and now i have my ideal setting for daily driving. The BC coilovers compared to Tokico Blues w/Tein S-techs was a huge improvement. Ride is stiffer but smoother and no where near as jarring over bigger bumps. It rides almost flat through corners and turn in feel is more direct with a bit of camber added (This thing really feels like a go kart now). I am very impressed with these coilovers and feel that i made the right choice with the purchase. It's only been about a week and a half but i will give it a long term review later down the road.

Initially with stock racing harts

Along with the coilovers I installed my summer wheels, grille, and msp lip. Onto the pictures

Some track time with the protege at TMP cayuga last year. NS2R's performed great once I got some heat in, really impressed with the cars overall performance.

When did you get the CF hood? That looks sweet! What is your daily then for the winter months? Also, what are the specs on the RPF1's?

Thanks man hood I just picked it up from a friend of mine. Very few left so I'm glad I got it. RPF1'S are 17x8 +35 offset wrapped with yokohama Neova AD08

My ride for winter is an 05 Mazda 3 GT 5 speed

The fitment looks perfect with that wheel setup IMO. Both of your cars are better than my daily! lol.

Thanks man! Took a while to get to this kind of set up... a lot of playing around and fiddling with the suspension set up.

Haven't updated this in a while... figured this forum is pretty dead but I'll update anyways to keep track of my progress

Haven't done much to the pro this year but i did go through some rust repair for the right rear quarter. Complete new sheet metal with paint job, its as mint as ever!

At one point i redid my rpf1s silver... lasted about 2 months and went with gunmetal instead

Great work on the repairs, still looking good.

Thanks!!

Over the weekend I was contemplating on switching out my wheels so that I can use something for daily instead of burning up my AD08s. I found a set of msp racing harts that were pretty close to mint for $300 so I drove an hour to snatch them up. Really happy I did because these wheels have such an awesome finish that just makes it look so clean. I'm also running spacers all around to get it to sit nicer. Don't know why I waited so long.
