Spare Tire Release Socket

I drive a 08 CX 9 GT edition, I recently got a flat tire and when I went to change the flat to my dismay I realized that the spare tire release socket was not in the vehicle, This was the first time I had gotten a flat so I did not know the vehicles did not come with the socket, I had to have the car towed to a shop and they put on a new tire so I did not need to get at the spare. Going forward does anyone know where I can get this socket, the dealer said they do not carry them. If anyone can help it will be truly be appreciated

That can't be correct, the dealer would be the only source for them. I have no idea why they didn't just use a normal 6 pointed nut.

They do come with a tool. That is what i used to lower the spare tire when i got a flat.
