Smoke on start up and smell while driving

Does burn oil, rate unknown, i need to replace the cat converter as its plugging up.

I'm planing to do a compression test this week when i have time, a few guys have mentioned valve seals.

Car is a 2002 MP5, has 158k KM (roughly 98k miles)
All stock aside from air intake resonator thing removed and Royal Purple 10W30, burnt oil prior.

I run this car HARD, I'm fully expecting to blow it up, so keeping oil in it and not burning it is a issue lol


If it is valve seals whats involved in changing them? any other thoughts?

It would be a good time to change the timing belt as well.

Indeed it is, all the related parts are on my list lol

on an upside the RP oil smells better when burning then the regular old stuff

when is a good time to do timing and water pump on the protege?
im at 97000 miles (turned over on the way to work)

now would be a good time to start planning it. manual recommends at 105k miles.
