Sirius Install

Hi there,

New owner of a 2008 CX-7 GT with Tech package. Want to install factory Sirius. I had installed it in my Mazda3 last fall that we traded for the CX-7.

I was able to purchase the module from the same ebay source that I previously purchased from ($ 150 + $ 20 shipping).

Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience with the install and how difficult it was ?

It wasn't too bad on the 3 but did require taking a lot of panels off the car.

I replaced a faulty unit - the install is relatively easy - goes in the "trunk" area which on your model is hopefully already cabled. The tricky part of the install is the antenna which has to run up through the panel work and out to the roof.

Are some of them already pre-cabled ? The install docs seem to indicate that you need to run all of the wiring. That's one the biggest PITA steps. Also, running the antenna wire is a pain too. You actually need to file down a hole for the wire to run through your taillight.

Seems to me they really could do some better engineering to install this stuff.
