Noticed this past weekend that my seatbelt chime is acting up. When starting the car, it either doesn't chime or it'll chime once as I'm inserting the seatbelt into the retainer. I'm actually OK if it doesn't chime at all as I know there are mods out there for cars to disable this...even though some will argue you shouldn't disable safety reminders such as this.

Anyone else have this issue; know of a fix; or know how to completely disable?

There is a microswitch inside the buckle of most cars. There should be 2 wires going into the buckle. I would start here at this point and start working your way back, check continuity of the switch with a meter with buckle inserted or not.

You may be able to use some electronics cleaner (basically alcohol in an aerosol can) and spray it out in there real good, let it drain. Most times it's years of dirt, dust, and spilled drink inside the buckle that causes it to stick.
