Road Trip 2014

The 5 has a better weight to HP ratio than the Cx-5:

5 GT:

  • weight with Auto tranny 3457lbs
    HP 157
    Ratio: 3457/157-> 22HP/lb

CX-5 AWD GT

  • weight with Auto 3560
    HP 184
    ratio: 19HP/lb

Combined with the lower center of gravity and better aerodynamics, I'm not surprised that the 5 "feels" sportier than the CX-5.

You got numbers crossed. 22lbs/hp vs. 19lbs/hp.
The CX-5 AWD has 15% better weight to HP ratio than the 5. (CX-5 FWD is 19% better)
I like the Mazda5. Hope they update it soon.

Took a nice little trip to Florida a week ago 4 adults 1 child and a cargo area stuffed to the top. 2,731 miles driven, $325 spent on fuel, 30 MPG on average (Used Cruise Control for most of the trip). Comfort wise the leather seats are very comfy but too short and if you have long legs you'll definitely start to feel it. I adjusted the front part of the seat at its highest position but still I would feel my legs getting tired. The headrests suck so bad with that dumb tilt forward. Otherwise it was a great and safe trip with no rock chips! but plenty of bugs to clean off :)
