Radio randomly shuts off (2021 CX-5)

I have a 2021 CX5. When my phone is plugged in the radio randomly shuts off. The infotainment system remains active, just no radio. If I unplug the phone, the radio immediately turns back on. When I plug the phone back in, everything continues to work. Any ideas?

Are you doing anything with your phone when this happens? I know that if I open certain apps while listening to the radio the radio goes silent apparently because the app is now the primary sound source.

Nothing obvious. Phone is just sitting there. No text messages popping up or anything like that. Don’t know if other notifications might be coming in but nothing pops up on the CarPlay screen.

Which input is selected when the phone is plugged in? If the input is automatically selecting your phone and your phone isn't doing anything, as in playing music, then you get nothing over the speakers. What happens if you play something using your phone?
