radar detector suggestions.

i'm looking for a radar detector, but i want something streamline. not too many wires every where.
i was looking at the cobra xrs.
any suggestions?

Search there's a lot of threads on radar detector selection. I would bite the bullet and get one of the better ones, they are worth it. Concensus seems to be the Escort Passport 8500x50 and Valentine1 lead the pack. If you want a cordless the Escort Solo S2 is an option, but performance can suffer as the batteries begin to die. If I were you I would go with the Passport or the V1 and just wire it up the headliner, down the A-pillar, and into the fuse box. I did this with my 8500x50 and it works great and there are no visible wires.

seems pretty cool.. I might have to order one of those for my x50. The suction cups only last so long in the Texas heat.

Id recommend the x50 as well, its a really nice radar detector and has saved me tons of times.

the only option i wanted was the autodiming mirror with the compass. (had it in my truck for 4 years)
turned out i didn't get it. though that would be cool if i did. i hate having wires all over the place.

My Homelink was a dealer install that I got included in my purchase. It is actually the exact same model that my wifes 2007 Nissan Murano came with from the factory. There is a how-to for the install of the Homelink mirror in the how-to section.

what length invisacord did you go with?

I got the 8 inch on both vehicles.
That is for the above mirror mount.
The type of invisacord depends on if the mirror is
faactory or dealer installed.

You should probably e-mail them to make sure. I know the dealer install uses the same cord as the Nissan/Infinity. I am pretty sure that the factory mirror uses the standard cord. Check to make sure.

valentine vs escort 9500i

I am deciding between the valentine one and the escort 9500i. i like the GPS on the escort and also how it talks to you. but i like the valentine covers you from the back too. is the escort one able to do this as well? and are the arrows that important?

I've used Bel for a long time. There's a 995i in my 300C and a RX-65 that I swap between the Ram and my MS3. The Chrysler and the MS3 connections are from the auto-dimming mirror. It's so easy to take the A-pillar off the Ram, I just ran that connection to a switched source under the dash.

The escort has 360* laser and radar detection..
The arrows are only needed if you want to keep speeding. (first)
