What kind of gas mileage do you get 31-33 hwy, 25-28 city best 36.
Location Boston MA.

2000 ES 5spd 1.8
no mods. recent tune up
118k
24 hwy @80mph / 19 city w/constant 4k shifts
....yeah ?? hard driving but still

1999 DX 1.6L 5-speed
Poor man's cold air (sealed the drain holes in the plastic snorkel deal, removed the hang-down baffle. clipped the support open to allow more air through)
Getting about 35 on the highway (@ 70, any higher and you can watch the gas drop) about 15-20 in town (I have a lead foot in town).

Interesting note, I had a small exhaust leak due to a flange breaking off at the resonater/muffler join. I got a new resonater and installed it. Went from 30 on the highway to 35. I was shocked.

2002 ES 2.0L 5-Speed
No mods
56k
Combined average of 26mpg in the winter, 28mpg in the summer.
My worst city mileage is 24mpg. Best hwy mileage is 31mpg (@55, which is definitely not how I normally drive). Overall the car returns very consistent gas mileage, almost regardless of how I drive it.

Boston,MA

My gas mileage has dropped significantly this winter... getting like 24mpg city and no higher than 28/29 on freeway now.

Anyone else?

03.5 P5
23K on the odo
Racing Beat cat back from an MSP
K&N Panel
23-25 mpg mostly city ~28-30 HWY keeping ≤ 80 mpg
Athens, GA

2000 LX 5-spd
lightened flywheel, springs, drop-in K&N filter, short shifter
115k
32 on avg, shifting at around 3500 and above, regular gas (premium brings up my mpg, but not worth the extra cost)
FL

Re:

29-30 MPG on highway. 32 is my personal best.
Cruise control at 65-70 MPH for most of my 45 mi. commute.

Besides keeping excess weight low and driving smoothly, how are some of you getting 35-36 MPG??? Please share your advice!

Also, my tries are set at 30 PSI all around. Do any of you over-inflate by a few PSIs?

2003 ES
Short Air Ram Intake

i've gotton my best milage with the stock tires set to about 35 - makes the car a little more responsive too

Isn't 30 psi UNDER inflated? It's been so long since I've run stock air pressures.

i set mine upward of 45 psi (warm temp.) but I don't run stock rims or tires...

2002 Protege5 5-Speed

Full exhaust (head-to-tip), full intake (new manifold, tb, and intake tract, CA style,) lightened, light flywheel, light clutch, light crank pulley (that needs to be replaced,) 12lb 15x7 wheels with tires at 38 psi, coilovers (lowered ~2-2.5",) ported/polished head, back-cut, polished and coated valves, radiused valve seats... And I'm sure I forgot a few things.

35 city, 40 highway

Driving it pretty much like I stole it, but a lot of it is on the track, too, so at WOT, near redline a lot.

Edit: A note, though, which the post below made me think of; While I accelerate like mad, I don't often exceed 70 for cruising on the highway and whatnot. And most of the track duty I do, there's no chance to get up that fast.

...i just want to say i realize that riding throuhg the city under 3k gives better milage than going above 60-70 near 3k all the time. Even the news reports finally understand this.
