2002 Mazda Protege 5
Hey everybody, just bought my first mazda yesterday. Sold my civic because I was tired of having something everyone has and bought a 2002 Mazda Protege 5. Has a few tasteful mods done to it (in my opinion, we'll see what you think) AEM intake, mazdaspeed exhaust, front stabilizer bar, jdm fogs, jdm tails, lowered , MOMO rims, Polk momo 10" sub in slot ported box, Hifonics monoblock amp, Pioneer 7800 deck, polk speakers throughout. Heres a few pics. let me know what you think good or bad.

Welcome! Looks pretty nice. How many miles?

Looks like the engine bay could use a little cleaning :)

ya i havent had time to do a good detail on it yet its been raining all week too. its kinda high miles 110k but it runs like a champ. and it was a buddy of mines car and he took good care of it, actually my dad did all his work he is a mechanic. its been ran on synthetic since he had it too.

110K on these cars is nothing if it has been maintained properly...which it sounds like it has. I just came from a Speed3. Filled up my first full tank on the P5 and I got 33MPG and it cost me $28. About 9 MPG better than the Speed3 and about $4-$5 cheaper. Not to mention cheaper insurance.

I'm really liking the P5 thus far!

Ha, I was trying to get that guy to sell me his gauge pod when i saw it on Craigslist. Good find, I wish I had the extra cash laying around when I saw it for sale. But 3 cars are enough for now I guess :( I take it your in cbus? if so I'll be seeing you around.

Oh also 110 isn't bad at all I'm at 179,x right now and we use the p5 as the DD since its so much better on gas then the Grand am and ranger.

Welcome to the forum. It's great to see so many Civic guys jumping to the Mazda. You are the second one in 2 days that has posted on here about having a Civic and now owning a Mazda. (rockon)

We got rid of my fiance's civic to get a P5 also :) Congrats on the new car looks nice!

thanks for all the replys, yea i do live in columbus, havent had time to set up my sig and info and all that yet. its a good thing my buddy didnt sell you the guage pod because i love how it looks in there. he gave me the car for a pretty reasonable price, he was wanting 6500 or so and he sold it to me for 5k. he ended up buying a speed3. i dont really know too much about these cars yet, not really sure what i want to do with it either. I think i want to do some different rims so i may be selling the momos that are on there now if anyone is interested. they are 16's. will not come with tires im keeping them. does anyone know how to aim the headlights because my passenger light is a lot higher than my drivers side.

Sunlight Silver, FTW! Welcome aboard, man! Nice to see another Ohio P5. And I came from 3 civics to the Mazda Family too.

Hey jackoff.. you used MY pics of it.. lol

Also, if you get rid of those 16s, can I have them back, they may fit on the Speed for winter shoes.

I dont think you can do 17s on it, its pretty damn low right now.

no you cant have your rims back fucker i am probably gonna keep them for winter too. i planned on just getting another set of 16s from discount tire.

Nice score, clean car. Just needs a header to touch up the engine bay. May have an OBX for sale soon after I get my 2nd OBX (with the 3rd bung in it for the wb o2 sensor) coated & installed. Personally, I like the momos, they look different than what most stick on theirs. Car doesn't look like it's lowered too much for 17s but the tires may have to be something like 205/40/17 to not rub but that will depend on the offset of the rims too. Mine are 17x7 with 43 offset IIRC with 205/40s. Yours doesn't look any lower. Enjoy, welcome aboard & kudos on the brand swap, lol.

Didn't see pic of back of car so am gonna suggest the Mazda 6 wagon rear wiper mod. Looks much better and works better too, IMO.
