i just got my car and i read alot of customer reviews most of which basically went "great car loads of fun to drive" and i was so excited now i get on here and i see all these posts about the ones people have that dont run and i baught this car looking for a reliable daily driver to and from work. did i just make a bad investment? and i was already thinking of some nice bolt ons to add but now im just wondering if there is anything i can do to help it not blow up:(

if you mod yours for reliability and not power they are reliable... also don't boost in 5th gear at low rpms.

First thing first, any mods on the car? if so what?

1) if your running the stock intercooler and the factory plastic pipes. Replace those with after market (at least the pipes)
2) the rear swaybar bushings wear out fast but isn't a big deal to replace.
3) factory radio craps out, just replace it with something better
4) the factory Limited Slip Diff is known to break so don't lauch the car.... if it breaks get a mfactory diff to replace it and don't go with a welded factory one

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Welcome I drive my MSP about 100 miles a day for the last 8 months and I've had some minor problems a few check engine lights but she gets me to work and back... I'm also a decent driver never redlining... Not once since I've had the car. These cars do have quite a few quirks about them such as weak motor mounts, squeaky front and rear sway bars also endlinks that go bad, bearing issues, torque steer problems, slightly weak tranny, weak stock internals, prone to cracking exhaust manifolds ,fuel cut issues in the winter on stock ECu "no tune" and some known body rust issues, prone to front windshield cracks"mostly do to aggressive driving" and a few others but the car is very fun to drive an I've ha chances to sell mine and make Money but haven't done it yet so the car has some things going for it too. Hope I didnt scare the crap out of you... But best you know most of these are common issues... Alot of the time when the second or third owner of the car gets the car many of these issues have already been fixed tho. Enjoy the new ride

Your MSP looks to be in excellent condition from the looks of it. in the pics. It no where near as bad as this ---V guy makes it sound. The cars do have issues but bearings and windsheilds are not one of them. The weak tranny( with the exception of the diff) , and internals come into play when you try to hop it up. Motor mounts are weak but any FWD car with a MTX trans when driven hard will have weak motor mounts and Ive had plenty of cars to know. Your two biggest issues with the car if its 100% stock other then the intake will be the plastic intercooler pipes (they tend to crack and cause issues) and the LSD (this can set you back a pretty penny.)

That is a first I've heard of that... Mine should of busted a few dozen times by now if thats the case. I beat on mine like I stole it

Don't pick on me for picking on your car... I'm a owner too Ive read alot of info on this forum and also had my own experiences with my car... Just because there is no recent activity on this forum doesn't mean that The MSP Doesn't have an obvious flex problem. It's called the MSP windshield curse. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?75338-windshield-dead&highlight=Windshield+MSP and go the the MSP Problems thread at the very top OWNERS guide problems and solutions. My windshield was replaced by the dealership before I would purchase the car. And the one they replaced was not the factory windshield. I'm done now
