Is the FS-DE motor an aluminum block?

Just out of curiosity, what part of the engine constitutes the block? Because I have a MSP and a P5 and I can't get a magnet to stick to any part that I would have considered the "block". (and no it's not the valve cover, that part I know)

ya the block should be magnetic if it is iron, which i still have not checked. but still. there are 3 types of blocks made from castings which involves magnesuim aluminum and iron/steel composite. sucks that this block is iron due to the fact if i welded it it would crumble like a cookie.. but ya if any one has a block for sale im most definantly interested in purchasing.

Lol i was just reading threw this thread. So let me get this straight, you threw a rod. So it went threw the cyl wall, threw the water jacket, and finally out the blocks wall. So.... with that said you gonna weld it all up and power hone because im pretty sure the piston would snag a ring lol. This isnt a rotax engien.

No just the lower blocks wall... That's it. No interior damage. Where the hell did u depict the rest of the insinuated damage?

... didnt you say you threw a rod? if so it would have to damage the rest of the block haha, Maybe you can hot glue it back together because i heard arts and crafts is fun

Lol u all are absolutely childish. Makes me laugh.. I explained the damage there is no interior damage. What ever you all can be babies and make this out worse than it is. BTW, I have replaced the block and rebuilt it from ground up new springs valves gaskets pistons. And am now driving it as a daily driver.

question is in the title. i was thinking cuz i put a connecting rod through the block i dont have the car with me so i cant check and see if it is magnetic or not. if it is im welding it up putting a new connecting rod in pouring some oil in it and selling it.

You said through the block.... so that means cyl wall, water jacket, outer case. If your gonna troll at least get your s*** straight lol

Yes through the block. Not the cylinders. Just the lower part of the engine which contains the oil. Where the crank is. Is there anyway to upload pics from an iPhone? Also how is it trolling if I originally posted asking a question... You're dumb.

so... you can replace the engine and internals (which would be from interior damage if a rod was busted)... but cannot get pics from your iphone to the computer?

(trolls)

so how much did the new engine cost you? did you have a shop put it in?

i know something you could do with the old block.

I don't have a computer ATM just have a phone. It cost me in total with the rebuilt block 400$ and I installed it my self

do you have flickr or some other photo site? im sure you could download it to there from your iphone, and then post it here.

and not a bad price for a new engine.
