I agree. I prefer the old color scheme. Thread titles were bold (and black). Gets your
attention right away. The new color scheme, it takes a while to figure out what's
new. Envelopes on the left side is too big just to indicate which ones I have read or not.
I assume this software is customizable. maybe the owners are looking for feedback.

vBulletin is the software that is being used for the forum. It is a pay-for-use software and is customizable. I can't remember if version vBulletin 4 supports it but others support multiple "skins" so each user can select from a list in their user profile. I can't find that selection anywhere so either it's not available in this version or the admins have not enabled it. I remember from past experience that finding skins that actually work properly (even though they look like they should through a preview) is a pain in the rear.
As far as why it had to change so drastically, blame it on the major version upgrade. Forum software NEEDS to be upgraded all the time or else you get script kiddies in here posting about Viagra and Reebok Pump shoes (remember those?)
Overall I'd say the admins did a pretty darn good job of the upgrade since nothing major broke. Give them some time and they'll get it figured out.

we have a forum feedback section for discussions like this.
The new format is necessary for both functionality upgrades (iTrader ratings being the best user feature added) as well as security concerns (spam reduction). tweaks to the format are still being worked on but I would agree that the 4.0 skin isn't as clean in its basic form as the 3.8 was). To be honest, if you fear change, the internet is not the place for you. lol
