Gear whine with new shift lever

Installed an MSP shift lever in my P5 and now I can hear transmission whine particularly in 5th. Did I overtorque the bolt that connects the base of the shift lever to the gear change control rod?

The whiine may be unrelated in that you 'hear' it better because of the different shifter transmitting vibes differently... [shrug]

Thanks! Figured it was time to showcase the rims (and hide the lack of drop ).

Yes, I'm sure the gear whine has something to do with the changed acoustic properties of the shift linkage. I was wondering if anyone had this problem and fixed it by loosening the connection hardware.

I'd just do it myself but I can't get under the car too often--don't have ramps or a jack--apartment living ftl.

(alright) I wouldn't 'loosen' the bolts - just make sure they are only tightened to spec. Break 'em loose and then re-torque. If you don't have a torque wrench - you can rent one... If you need to know how to use it - let us know - we are here to help!
