For all of you with LSD breakage problems...

factory axles from either a mazdaspeed or n/a protege should go right in. same as when you put an msp LSD into the regular protege trans.

its embarrassing and offensive to someone who genuinely shares something new with the community to be confronted in a manner displayed in this thread by some people. i won't say anything more on that.

to the original poster, thanks for sharing and it looks like a nice product.

werd..

sorry bro. it's about 2am here and i could NOT tell if you were genuinely serious, or messin. either way. i'm sorry. and yea, in the trans.

no.. the axles should be the same splines.. the msp axles are thicker only in the middle. splines are the same.
it's barely any thicker "in the middle"... the real difference are the CV joints... they're MUCH bigger and handles torque/heat better

FYI, this LSD will also fit a normal mazda3 (1st and 2nd gen, 5 or 6 speeds), 95 protege ES, the mx-6/626s and mx-3s (V6)

considering I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the tranny apart (hehe, I said "tranny") I was genuinely serious, but as I said, I'm a noob and it's ok. No problem in the way you answered in my eyes... we're cool.

This is on my wish list btw.. check my rebuild thread.

Sorry, could you explain exactly what you meant by this statement? We have yet to have a single LSD failure, and around 70% of our LSD's are used on SFWD/Outlaw Drag Cars pushing 800whp+

Yeah like was said I can't vouch for something I know little about, I just know the design is superior to that of the stock msp diff.

Really it comes down to when I used to own a SHO (another mazda based fwd transmission with diff problems) and besides the open diff grenade that came stock the only upgrade was the $1300 quaife. However many many people came up with a couple diff solutions and they all eventually broke after they promised quaife performance for a cheaper price. If your diff is in fact as good as you say it is (and I really hope it is as you will demand a lot of the market at your price point) than you may want to check out the SHO community next.

Ohh and like was said whenever you get a chance apply for vendor status here so you can sell these and advertise here.

PLUS MFactory was also kind enough to develop a 26 spline version for us, something Quaife never did. this covers all the other g-series cars - including the BG protege LX, escort GT, escort spi, escort zx2, 323 gt, etc etc :D

I'm glad to see some of you guys are excited about this!

any idea what type of mazda transmission was in the SHO? I wasn't aware that it was a mazda type. in all my research i've only found mazda to have a couple different models/types of FWD 5-speed transmissions:

E type - tiny cars like the festiva
F type - low powered compacts, 323, escort lx, etc
G type - mid powered cars, MSP, probe, escort GT, etc
H type - "high" powered cars, probe/mx6 turbo, probe gt 3.0 vulcan

if i had to make a guess.... i'd bet that the SHO uses an H-type transmission. probably the same one that the probe 3.0 vulcan used. there is actually another group buy in progress right now for an lsd for this type of mazda transmission. it is closed for deposits and they are currently in the testing stage, so within a few months these will be readily available as well.

Explain to me why mazdaspeed20035 had over 500HP on his car for well over a year, and still has the stock LSD, but has it welded.

And that's not even a MSP LSD in that pic you posted. I have NEVER seen a LSD in a MSP look like that, NEVER.

The weakpoint in the MSP LSD is that the casein falls off, which why we get it welded.

LOL to YOU for thinking that a welded Dif is even close to being as strong as a custom racing Dif. Funny stuff. I think you're being too "Fan boy-ish". Just because you have something, doesn't mean it's the greatest part ever.

There is now a permanent, awesome, and affordable solution!

I just finally finished up running a group buy with MFactory, designing helical LSD's similar to the Quaife at a much more affordable price. For the record - I don't work for them.. I'm just really excited about these things, and hopefully you will be too. There was such a large response to the group buy (nearly 50 people) that they have decided to carry these LSD's on their website from now on:

http://www.teammfactory.com/products.php?category=Helical LSD&mod=MZ

The retail price is $669.95 plus shipping, and the special ring gear bolts needed are included, unlike the Quaife. We also worked out a different design for the bolts, so no grinding to the shift gate will be required. It will be a 100% drop-in installation.

Testing has been done in both a road race car and a 10 second ford probe... so rest assured, this thing isn't going to let go on you. If you're still concerned, check out reviews of their products over at honda-tech.

Just an FYI for all of you guys :). Here are some pics:

One of the sample diffs the day it arrived at my place of work back in January.

One of the special bolts - M10 left-hand thread like a honda ring gear bolt, but shouldered to fit the ~11.2mm (going from memory here) hole in the g-series ring gear. The flange of the differential has threaded holes, so there are no nuts required.

Lots of questions were asked and answered in the original group buy thread:

However, if you have any questions about these things feel free to ask me.

This sucks, where were they when I broke mine? I spend abound a grand over that price for a quaiife.

If you READ what I said, I'm mainly saying that most people on here aren't going to be racing or building huge power, hence why they wouldn't need a racing diff.....

anyways... enough bitching

i will be grabbing one of these and will be the true test dummy for this thing. might as well for the price you cant go wrong

btw.. there isnt an msp over 500whp yet. he made 474... and he IS upgrading his LSD with this new build.. he will probably get this when he sees it

so can we get a group buy going asap? or should i just order mine separate? my buddy wants a Honda one too.. maybe we can work a deal :)

(thought)
Lets not get ahead of ourselves here, before any group buy would be able to happen, somebody needs to get cleared to conduct business on the forum. I for one would love to see a GB, but would hate to see things go sour between them and Adminz. hopefully they are getting their AV status so we can have another option between a band-aid and an overpriced fix.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't do business with them, I plan too, but my business will be off board (email, phone) until they are official. I don't want to jeopardize any pending business agreements..

that was the point of my post dude... i did nothing wrong

i was simply asking (MFactory themselves) if there is going to be a group buy happening or vendor status coming soon... or if there isnt then i will just order it off the boards.. but if there is then i want in on the discount..

chill, im not here to wreck the party

yes that was with his leaking IM and a couple problems.. but he never dyno'd it and they dont think he got another 30whp be fixing those things...

dont take this away from me,... i wanna be the first recorded haha

Well he's over 500, but not on record cause his lazyness haha, but his current build is nastyyyyyyyyyy his car will be able to hold 45psi.

once I get mine, I'm going to bring it to the next meet so everyone can see it up close

Oh and cp boost will blow anyone out of the water ;) I think it was 800+ hp in their drag protege, but it's not streetable at all haha.
