Have around 1600 miles on my mz6 touring, have noticed since I got it that the temperature outside seems to read ~5-7 higher than actual. I've verified with a few other outside thermometers.

Anyone else noticing this?

Also, where is the sensor located on the car?

Behind the front bumper. It is more accurate when moving, which is obvious due to increased heat radiating from the engine and radiator. Happens in every car I've had the fortunate to drive with an ambient temp gauge.

Same with my TL. It'll be in the 90s, park for 10-20 mins to run into the store & it reads ~15-20 degrees higher on a really hot day.
The worst I've seen was my dad's '03 4Runner. On a really hot day, it would be as much as 30 degrees off. Until you got moving.

official weather temperature readings are done in the shade, 4ft above ground. So if your car is baking in the sun, clearly so is your temperature sensor underneath the hood....
