I've just been using the supplied cheap twin suction cups in my car/truck but they are starting to not work very well in the cold weather. My motorcycles use a custom aluminum mount I fabricated that mounts to the tank. I'm thinking of getting the Escort Blendmount:

It costs about $40 more than the PerformancePackage Bracket/mirror tap but the teeth on the mirror stem clamp look a bit vicious to me. (boom04)
The coiled cord across the dash to the 12v outlet hasn't bothered me too much but it will be nice to ditch it!
2 pieces of thin rubber and done. Saved me $40 beans. Plus - I have the blend mount in my Miata PRHT and it vibrates like a mother.
This is how I did it:

Cost me nothing and I just had to push it up there and it sits rigid, specially with the anti rattle bracket.
But you have a regular CX5. Mine is the race-car edition. No power mirror. Too much weight above the center of gravity.
You can tap into the sunroof power if you have one or the rain sensor.
The racing model has none of this.
Also, yes, the power mirror does raise the CG, but it is ALSO above the CG...
The only thing my model has is vanity lights. I wish those were stripped out, too, alas, they are not. But I PRESUME the wiring for the power mirror is up there tucked away, as it's a dealer-addition option...is that incorrect?
No, it isn't. The wiring harness is a separate kit.

The racing model doesn't need a radar detector. It is used for racing. Your pit crew will tell you, by radio, when they have clocked your speed with Radar
I used a V1 in my Z06 and 370Z. Suction-cup mount was THE way to go, IMO. Worked great. Blendmount blocked view when cornering, and vibrated, and looked stupid.
Not to hijack the thread, but speaking of V1 -- I went on a little trip last weekend and took my v1 with me. The Laser alert kept going off, to the point where it the radar detector basically became unusable. I assume its from some distance measuring thingy in the mirror area, since the alerts for the most part went away when I allowed for some extra distance to the cars in front of me or to the side of me. Is there anything I can do about that short of reprogramming the V1 to disregard Laser alerts?
