I am interested in getting my Protege Ecu re-flashed till I can get my hands on a stand-alone unit or tuneable aftermarket ecu unit. How do I go about doing this?

Also, do we have any tuner shops within 100 miles of 45805? Any info would be great!

Thanks in advance.

Hmm... There's a guy selling MP3 ECU's relatively cheap. Probably your best bet for now. Perhaps one of the locals who had it done can post up?

Will I get any gains from an Mp3 ECU, or maybe a Pro5 one? I have seen a few for sale, but didn't know if I would actually benefit from swapping them out.

Thanks!

MP3 ecu, yes. P5... no. It's the same as the sedan.

Like Phen said, the MP3 ECU reflash is your best best. As long as you don't mind running 91 or better octane. I always run 93 anyway in my cars and when I installed an MP3 ECU in my P5 it really woke up the motor and was well worth the $250. Now you can get them for ~$150 and IMHO, still well worth it. Just be careful swapping them out, that kick plate is sharp!
