Draining gas tank - 1999 Protege

Is there any easy way to drain the gas tank without taking out the sending unit? I tried to siphon it out the filler tube with no luck and the screws that hold the sending unit/ fuel pump in definitely arent coming out (I can't even tell what kind of screw it is anymore it's so rusty). I have to remove the tank and fuel lines to do some welding underneath.

I suppose sticking a tube down the filler tube to the bottom of the tank is not completely out of the question. I also would guess that doing on a slope so the gas will gather at the lowest point, assuming your tube gets that far. Just a guess, never had to drain my tank and never have seen it done either. If you drop your tank and have to drain it, I guess you should add a drain plug for future use, if need be.

remove fuel line,fit longer hoe in it's place then add 12 volts to fuel pump and wait for fuel to pump out into container.
