I did a search on the location of the VICS screws that could fall out and go into you engine. I had no luck finding it or a good picture. Coudl anyone post a pic up or tell me. Im concerned because when i start my car up i get this where metallic grinding sound and i also hear a serious rod knock when it first starts up as well as like some sort of backfires out the exhuast and a mettalic ratteling sound comming from the exhuast pipe as well. After the car is warm it drives decent but it lacks the low end grunt it used to have. Im thinking it might be the screws but have no idea where to find them on the manifold. Thanks for any help...

vibration in the stock exhaust is common, thats one of the reasons i went ahead and bought exhaust, mine rattled like a biotch, when you say you have knock do you mean for like the 3 or 4 seconds when you first start it after your car has been sitting for a while and has completely cooled down? that could just be the oil not making it up to the top of the engine right away, it's common in all cars if they have been sitting or are really cold, sounds like you don't really have a problem but if you could elaborate on these noises a little more itd be useful, it's hard to diagnose a car over the internet, i know what it's like to be paranoid about your car, i thought my clutch was going bad in early january but it was just me freakin out, turns out it was all in my head. Anyways, elaborate a lil more on the sounds you hear, what they sound like, what RPM, warm, cold, etc....

yeah ti knocks the first few seconds when you start it up...so thats normal? Right after the knock there is another sound like there is metal grinding or like a marble rolling around, it last for like 3-4 seconds then stops and after that its normal...

Here is a how to remove with some pictures. If you had a screw fall out you would know. Plus I don't think it would last for more then a few min. It would either blow the motor or get blown out the exhuast. All the noise you are hearing is normal. The VTCS kinda acts like a chocke for the motor. Once it warms up it opens all the way and you can't hear it anymore. Plus these motors just rattle alot. I had to get use to this, if I heard my v8 sound like this that ment I had problems. Here's the link.

Well I don't want you to take this as a bash. But there is no VICs screws. VICs stands for Variable Intake Charge System. That's the type of intake system we have. If you read that page I posted it will explain it alot better then I can. I'll try to find pics after lunch, right now I have a domino game to play.

Here is what they look like.
