Mazda protege5 stock
Hey everyone!
So I've had my protege5 since september 2013. I only recently discovered forums and how interesting they really are :p I don't have any current pictures of my car but ill have some up soon. For the moment, everything is stock except for a new head unit i put in this weekend. I'm only going to start modding this summer as I had a small accident and need to fix up my front passenger corner and change the passenger headlight first all while fixing the rust. If you guys have any tips i'll post pictures soon of the dent and maybe someone has a trick to getting it out without changing the part. As with most of you, I love working on my car myself and plan on doing quite a few things to my car this summer and I am just starting to look at other builds for inspiration. If you have any suggestions or tips don't be shy it's why I joined!

Welcome!

You should post how you took care of your rust when you do it. I'm passively selling my car (mostly because of the rust), but mine's pretty bad and I'm trying to decide if I wanna take the time to fix the rust or just sell it to the next guy (if there is one).

I researched and the best way to do so is to buy the arches cut weld and paint the welding is going to be done by a shop because I don't own any welding equipment

So I know it's not much but I got my summer tires and mags on and my car is looking amazing! I got the G-Max AS-03 from General Tire and I tried them quickly and I adore them! nice treadwear rating at 480 also with a rating too! for all you canadian p5 owners theyre on sale at canadian tire comes out to just under 600 for a set of 4. here's some pics even though I need to wash it :p

you sir need to invest in a floor jack (low profile if possible) and a torque wrench. that stock scissors jack is just all around terrible. haha.

since you speak of canadian tire. you will know their low profile steel/aluminum low profile jack regularly goes on sale for around $100, and the mastercraft maximum 1/2" torque wrench goes on sale for about $70 quite often too.

as for me i'll stick to used tires from kijiji. a set of 4 tires for $160 sounds much more appealing to me!!

are those the chrome/polished wheels?? hard to tell from the pics.

I know i need to just after buying new tires need to watch the spending but the jack had trouble lifting my car so yes it is very bad but for the moment it works so its not too bad and im still on a very small budget spending half of my salary solely on gas :p The only thing I don't like about used tires is that I've seen a lot of bad things with them and want to avoid issues and they aren't chromed wheels theyre just a metallic colour but theyre getting dipped at the same time as the car this summer just a little too cold (my nose turned into a fountain while I was changing my tires today)
