I don't think you can go wrong with either a 2016 or the newer 2017 model.
Looks are subjective and not worth getting butt-hurt over (rolleyes).
If you can get a good deal on a 2016 like $3-4K off MSRP, I'd get it.
Otherwise the 2017 has many improvements over the 2016 likely worth it to someone who wants the latest version.
