I'd love to own a 30th anniversary. That production number shot made my heart jump a bit. Did they really start at 0000? I think the 30th anni is awesome and rare enough as is, but being the very first is special.
The pictured production badge is on the promotional car that was first shown at the Chicago auto show.
The actual cars haven't been produced yet.
Of the 3,000 that will be made, only 500 of the cars are coming to the United States.
We're informed that the numbers won't be sequential by country, but the information I read indicates that they will be assigned in order-sequence within the U.S.
Having ordered my car early in the process has me hoping that I'll receive a lower number than those who came after or are on the waiting list.
As an aside; my RF LE has the lowest known VIN of any launch edition in the country.
The enthusiast whose car was the first delivered at the L.A. auto show over two years ago received VIN 00342. My car is VIN 00341!
My guess is that Mazda flew two cars into L.A. for the show in case one was damaged in transit.
It was just dumb luck (and an arrangement with the owner of my dealership group) that I received the car originally designated for him when mine was delayed.
