Fog Light Switch

:
Mazda Protege5
Does the fog light switch illuminate when you turn on the fog lights, or just the headlights for that matter?

the switch should light up when you turn on the headlights. there is no indicator when the fog lights are turned on or off.

Probably 5 or 10 bucks at a wrecker. They just pop out of the dash (from behind) then unplug.

You can check the voltage on the back of your switch first to make sure the ACC. wire has power. (the one that lights the bulb inside the switch)

Thanks for the info everyone. Did other Proteges, beside the P5, come with fog lights? P5s are pretty much non-existent in junkyards around here. There are a few Protege sedans, however.

If all else fails, I can replace the bulb. In any case, it's a "wait for warmer weather" job!

Just make sure you've got power getting to the bulb.

One of the wires going to the switch should have power when the headlights get turned on.

(it would suck to replace the switch or bulb to find out it's a bad wire.)

If it's not a wire and you'd like a new switch, I have one and will sale for $20 shipped. Bought it used a year or so ago and never used it. Was going to use it to control the rear fog but never got around to installing it.
