I did a quick search or two and I can't find it. I'm trying to find a diagram of the sensors on the automatic 04-05 transmissions. I need to swap one into my protege 5 but there is an extra sensor on the mazda 3 transmission. Its a one pin connector and I need to know what it does... Thanks

This is what I pulled out from the protege faq "FN4A-EL automatic used in all 3rd generation Proteg's and Mazda3's" but the 2006+ 3's are using different trannys. "FS5A-EL automatic used in 2006+ 2.3l Mazda3's"

Ok so my automatic tranny just gave out... I did some searching and saw that early model mazda 3's have the same tranny. So are all the boltings and electronic connections also the same?

Yea thats correct I think they just sanded the yellow and painted over it though.

I hope this is not it but it sounds just like that (like a spinner wheel with those clicky thingys) I hope its just the joint shaft

I believe the safety feature(the one where you have to press the brake to move from neutral to park) is electronically controlled and thats probably why you couldn't change the gears.

I dont think he had anythiing more than basic mods and a fuel controller... LOL but he ran it for a few months before it gave out.
